Potential New Owner.

So here it is. A beautiful 69 1600, 61K miles(if the ODO works) I am NOT the owner yet. but very dedicated to the buy, and have not even seen it in person yet. That comes sunday(july 28th) Here's some history info, 1 Owner spent it's entire life in a garage in FL. Original title, Original license plate relocated to the front. Many new parts as well. New front and rear brakes. front and rear suspension. new timing set. new water pump. rebuilt carbs. used crack free not installed yet dash. removed, cleaned and coated fuel tank. new hoses and belts. No performance add'ons from the current owner. Yeh, current and yet 1 owner? the current owner bought, and transported and fixed up the car and did not sign the title for the purpose of resale as a 1 owner. I have noticed in the engine bay pic(besides the over spray of blue) is the exhaust, I do believe by online photo's, the factory manifold is one "piece" for #2 and #3.. maybe a header? looks sheet not cast. I'm not new to Datsuns by any means. Mostly the Z and L-Series. Been lookin to get back into the classic car scene, and was also looking into a nice BMW 2002, but Datsuns are where I stand( since I do make parts for the L-Series and all) All in all, I'm posting because if ya'll see something in these photo's and the ones I will take on Sunday(along with results of tests I am doing) that I don't let me know. I'll post price after purchase, but from what I see, a steal.

If as you described, with lots of parts and no RUST, then this would be worth anywhere from $5-$10K, depending on a few things:
1) The fenders are not '69 or have been modified, no teardrops - why?
2) There is no rust.

I seriously doubt the mileage, but I'm just naturally skeptical there.
I love the steelies and hubcaps. Looks to be a very good find.
Welcome (hopefully) to the forum, we look forward to more pictures!

probably a 68 titled as a 69. Upholstery is not stock. Clearly a repaint. Yes, that is a header.

I'm told rust free. We will see Sunday. I did notice a little about the paint. It does not look all the same shade in the first pic. But that could be time of day, cloudy, or angle. I'll have the Vin up soon. Maybe it will compare to one already on the list.

@Notoptoy, Yes I really like the wheels, I'll keep them if I buy, just put some better whitewalls on it.

@JohnyMac, Mainly Fuel rails. But CF Valve covers and modular intakes for DCOE, ITB EFI, and Turbo applications on L-Series are in prototype stage.. But I'm not here to promote ;)

I can tell from the photos that the car is NOT rust free. Have a look up inside the front fenders. Behind the wheel is a ledge that collects dirt and rusts badly. Also check under the brake master cylinder and in front of and behind the rear wheels. Another place that rusts is under the driver's pedals - hard to see unless you pull up the carpet or get the car up on a lift.

Good luck!

That car was originally the light yellow from what I can tell. The red looks like a spray can repaint. There is likely some rust judging by the condition of the inner fenders. In all it looks like a decent car though.

Might be OK.

Check that the fenders are bolted on below near the door....If there is hidden rust, they usually weld the fender on....they look like they do not fit right from the photo......but there are not any good side views.
Looks like the wrong side molding...should be Stainless Steel......

No way its a 61K mileage car.....at least 161K...more likely 261K...not a big deal as most have at least that and better to have been used that sit and rust.....

Good luck.....I would say 3-5K on the west coast....double on the east.....LOL

I will be in Hattiesburg on the 28th - departing on the 29th. I don't think that is anywhere near where you are though.

Check for rust, check the vin number and title. The seller does not sound like the owner on the title. The car has been painted, there is surface rust and this is NOT a 61K car. Please get the vin number from the seller and check with the DMV in the titled state and listen to your gut.

That I will. I'm merely inspecting and running tests this Sunday. I'll post comp test PSI as well as IGN volt strength results, and VIN pic's. It being painted does not hurt my feelings much. I would of kept it that if original, but not a fan of the red. So now I won't feel bad about repaint.

$2400 is a very good deal, even if there is some rust, just not a lot.

I don't think you can wait around too long on a decent deal. There are probably others trying to snag the car if it's good. Not saying to buy without assessing it but the faster you can do that the more likely you are to get it. If it is some barn find that only you know about that is different.
