Need help again
My fuel sender unit is getting very weak and work when ever it want to. It left me on the side of the road one day coming home from school because I ran out of gas it was no fun. Any one know what option I have to get a replacement? Cheapest way to make it would be great. I'm a broke azz student excuse my language.

Buy gas before any trip and use your trip mileage.

Re: Need help again
Mine did not work either when I picked it up in San Francisco, and drove it to San Diego and then NC. The odometer worked - I figured a conservative 22 MPG on a 10 gallon tank - stop for fuel every 200-225 miles. Worked like a charm all the way across the country - until we had the bright idea to see if we could just "skip this exit, we can make it to the next one" (I believe the actual statement was "sometimes you gotta have big brass ones").....we didn't.
Thanks AAA!!

Re: Need help again
Also check the voltage regulator under the dash by the steering column. Is your temp gauge "floating" as well?

Re: Need help again
Floating means that it is likely the dash mounted regulator. Try improving its ground through the casing by cleaning, or it may need replacing.

Re: Need help again
I have posted this before and will post again.
The instrument VR can be repaired. The connections to the wires are riveted, corrosion can build up. simply clean the riveted connection, and then with a good hot soldering iron, wick some solder into it. You need a good hot gun to get it to flow, but it gives you a good solid connection when done.
How do I know?? Mine was intermittent, I did this, and it has never given me problems again.
