Hi All -- The other day I posted a question regarding the interchangeability of tie rod assemblies between a 1600 and a 2000. Alexi was kind enough to reply, and I thank him.

The reason I posed the question was because there are a number of Australian vendors on Ebay selling tie rod assemblies for "Datsun 1600's". Because prices seemed too good to be true, I called that wise and all-knowing Roadster sage, Stan Chernoff, who let me in on something many of you may already know: In Australia, the Datsun 1600 is just another name for the 510 wagon!

Maybe this is common knowledge in this community, but it was news to me, and I just wanted to pass the info along. Many of you have posted information that has saved me a lot of grief and I truly appreciate it.

Thanks for the info! I was also very close to buying those, but I didn't since it did not say "roadster" and only 1600, always ask questions prior to bidding......

the 1600 in any other country is a 510. It is easy to distinguish visibly the differences of the parts. The 510 actually has 4 tie rods with adjusting sleeves as roadsters have 2 tie rods (4 tie rod ends) fixed on a shaft with an adjustable drag link.

And if the price looks to go to be true then it is! I haven't found a cheap roadster part yet.

I almost made this mistake too. I do wonder about the availability of Aussie parts. Mackay lists part numbers for ball joints, but I can't find a vendor in the states. Anyone tried this?
