Speedo Drive Gear Stuff

Post by 70MTroadster »

I just ordered a speedo drive gear from my local Nissan dealership. It took about 3 days to get here and cost $22. 20 tooth, red, part #32703-78104.

I wanted to give you guys a heads-up on this # as it appears twice in Mullen's writeup on this site. I think he meant 78103 for the 19 tooth if you follow his number progression.

Anyway, I am running 185-65-14 Coopers on my car and they say that tire diameter is 23.45 inches. I have an original spare tire and wheel and it measures a tad over 24 inches. I have a 3.70 punkin coming from Pat Mahoney so that my drivetrain will duplicate the 2 liter.

I'll post my results once everything is installed.

Oh, I found a dyno place in Billings. Dynojet dyno, $100 for 2 pulls to get an at-the-wheels horsepower reading. If all goes well and the mild winter we have been enjoying continues, I may be able to sneak over there and see what this engine is doing.

I also reajusted the 1600 SU's for this altitude (only 1 turn out from bottomed on the idle mixture wheels under the carbs) and now it will pull 6000 no sweat in all but 5th. :D

FYI,

I think you were right about the typo so I changed it.
