Well it is a Niles switch which is stock. Datsun was known to change the style of the switches. The 4 pin switch will also work for the fog lights if you have an extra. Frankly if that switch was in the car I would just use it if it works okay especially if all you do is use it to trigger a relay.

Here is the switch from my car which is what I am used to seeing. On the left is the much less expensive switch you can use as a replacement that I bought from the UK. I'm going to use the whole set of them in my car.


Here you can see that the toggle is just a little different.

Thanks Curtis for the additional information and clarifying why the toggle switch looked so different. And that brings me back to my original question. On the O.E. two pin switch, which pin is power in and which is power out? Im quessing that the toggle switch will work wired either way with the only difference being if the off position of the toggle is in the up position or the down position. But again, with my very limited understanding of auto electrical, I don't wanna assume anything and create more problems for myself by experimenting. Id rather not be at Shasta some day explaining how I burnt my roadster to the ground.

It shouldn't matter on that switch. It you had the switch that I have it only matters a little but not really since there are only two pins. Did you look at my toggle drawing even though it doesn't apply to your switch only the others?

I bought a couple sets of these. I like them because they have extra pins and I can make my park lights stay on with the headlights. I could just rewire them or put the double spade connector on the switch.

The 65 1500 came with the type 8 for the heater. The type 3 will work though, with an unused terminal.
The 65 1500 is the only car that came with the type 2 single speed wiper switch.

Curtis, I looked at the drawings but for me, they might as well be in Chinese as I really don't know what i'm looking at. Any problem using the original power in lead to the toggle switch and then fabricating a power out lead to the relay? i'll have to make a quick trip to the auto parts store for a cheap test light to determine which of the two original leads is hot since I left 90 % of my tools in the states.

If you want to use a relay for the fog lights it is quite easy. Run a new power wire to the relay and then to the lights. Use one of the old fog light wires at the front of the car to trigger the relay on.

No, the S-2 is not the same as the S-3.
S-2 has terminals at 2,5,7 and the S-3 has terminals at 2,4,6,7
You can use a S-3 in place of a S-2, but not S-2 in place of a S-3
S-2 is for a single speed wiper motor, S-3 for double speed wiper motor or lights.

Well mine is. I've taken them apart.

I have taken some apart also. Maybe somebody swapped your S-2 body with a S-3.

Strange. I don't know what you have, but the stock S-2 is a two position switch and the S-3 has 3 positions. The S-2 is wired per Nissanman's mapping, shown above.

So this drove me nuts at first because I thought these were two different switches. Turns out they are the same and you just hook them up different for lights and wipers.
