After some last minute tinkering, lots of orange RTV sealent and some luck the oil leak has been reduced from a natural disaster (EXXON VALDEZ) to a driveway incident. With a few last last minute ajustments it should appear as the caravan runs through San Luis Obispo. :D :D 8). I had given up on the idea all together until I decided to try just a little more sealant. The car is not signed up, it won't win any awards but it will be there.

It came, it was seen, the 510 guys wanted to race. The race will have to wait till Shasta where it can happen at Thunderhill raceway. The car didn't expire on its way down, or on the return trip. :D It did become known as the "Rad 2 liter" however

Will,

I saw a picture of your car that Alvn G took. Glad you got to make it to the show. Pretty cool seeing all those cars there isn't it?

It was cool. I can't beleve I didn't win best project car. The guy who won that catagory had a complete nice looking car. It wasn't a project at all.

It does have quite a bit of character. Last night I picked up the last thing I needed to make it seriously rad; a new 4.11 LSD :D. I think I have run out of things to add. I now have all the performance parts listed. I can now say that I have all the mods. I hope the LSD will calm the oversteer with the rear swaybar. It also will help in the acceleration quite a bit. I can't wait to take it to Thunderhill the day before Shasta. By then I should have all the gremlins delt with. I was surprised to find that I got about 25mpg on the trip down and back. I think I will loose some of that when I fix my lean mixture issue but it is far better than I expected. It was the first time that car had left San Luis Obispo in the past decade.

The Hula girl ran away. I don't know where she went, but she didn't make it back home.

In all fairness to Harry Rattleman's car, I think that why he won the "Best work in progress" award is that many of us have seen the car for years and it was a pretty ragged machine. The first time I saw the car it had no interior to speak of, no paint and and looked to be falling apart.

I saw it again at another show about six months agao and it was in primer by then. The nice green paint job and great work Harry has done on the car is truly amazing considering what he had to start with.

How the heck you get your hands on that 4.11 LSD?

I had the chance to buy a large project. The owner was willing to part some of it out though. I ended up buying a nonsmog ported and polished 2 liter head as well as a pair of reground cams as well. The head will go on a friends 67.5 2000, but the LSD is going on the "Rad 2 Liter" as it was nicknamed at Solvang. (the 67.5 that is getting the head is also a "rad 2 liter", and is set up almost like my 69. He already has the 4.38 LSD on it.)

I may not of won best project at Solvang but I would be willing to bet that I had the fastest :D . Next year I will get it, by then my car should have real paint.
