Custom new wheel mounting holes?

Every time I find a wheel I like it seems that the mounting holes are for 4/100 car. Other than calculating and adding more unsprung weight to a car by using spacers, can new holes be put inbetween the existing holes onto newer wheels in 4/114.3 spacing? Are there any specialty shops that do this kinda work or is this just wishful thinking on my part? Thanks guys

I think the problem with 4x100 wheels is that they are mostly setup for FWD applications, ie really high offset. The Civic/integra/Scion/FWD crowd wanted lower offsets for "flush" fitment so if you do find a design you like with low offset it probably still has a very small center bore.
hub adapters are burly and add at almost an inch, iirc.
4x100/114.3 dual pattern wheels do exist. I wouldn't trust drilling a new set of additional holes into the hub, although I am sure it can be done. Imho why risk it.

Call some of your local machine shops......It is not uncommon to redrill wheels.
I have seen prices from 150 to 250 for a set.
What wheels are you looking at?
