Re: Torque Rod bushings??
You can also fill a mount/bushing like that with fresh urethane.
This is a common trick with motor mounts and the Honda/Toyota sport compact guys who don't want to pay for fancy motor mounts.

Re: Torque Rod bushings??
Sent you a PM...I may put this back together with some good looking used bushings...and then mess around with re-making these using pourable urathane and the old bushings as molds.jrusso07 wrote:If have a spare rear end that has half a torque rod attached - torque rod was cut when the rear end was dropped. So I have one you can have for shipping (will ship the 1/2 torque rod with bushing installed). If interested, PM me?
Also, these look a lot like front control arm bushings for 510s and Z's. Maybe do some research in that space?
It'd take some fiddling to get the dampening and socket rotation (flex) right, but seems like a fun project!
Thanks for the 510 and Z tip. I'm going to explore that as well. I wouldn't be surprised if these bushings ened up in another early Datsun!

Maybe something there.

Re: Torque Rod bushings??
All things considered, I went with pouring new urethane into the old bushings. I made molds out of HDPE:
I then poured new urethane into the molds:
The finished bushings flex slightly more than the crusty 45 year old bushings and look like this:

And the completed torque rod ready for install:
It turned out to be a fun project and I'm now wondering what else I can mold out of urethane!Cap'n Ron. . .

Ron, Brilliant work. So would that work without removing the bushings from the rod?
