The owner died. It took me months to get the information of the bankruptcy trustee. After talking with him, he let me retrieve my property. A little over 1800 miles in three days in a rented pickup, and I am home.

Beautiful weather here. Was a perfect day for a nice drive, wash, wax and an afternoon impromptu car show (followed by a well-deserved oil & filter change).

BTW: Anyone else jack up the drivers side to get that last few ounces of old oil out?
Ummm … never mind. Probably an over-share 🫢

I know this won't be for everyone. But I always disliked the taillights on the rodster. Took me awhile to find a light that had the right shape. To look stock but a better fit. (In my opinion) they are loosely installed for a mock up. And I really like the look.

I found them on a aston martin db6. But also come out on a tr4 triumph. I was just looking at tons of photos from the 60s and 70s and when I saw the db6 I knew that was the look I wanted.

I took a clay bar to the roaster today. I hadn't done this is about 10 years so it was time. I actually ended up buying a clay mitt instead of the clay bar & boy that made the job way faster. It took off all the little bits & bumps in the paint & brought it back to a super smooth finish. It even worked on the windshield glass. It came out pretty good for a 12 year old paint job. I went with the Adam' Clay mitt & Detail spray & followed it up with a coating of Turtle Wax Ceramic Wet Wax. The new ceramic spray waxes are super easy to apply compared to what I used 10 years ago!

Thanks for the info on the clay mitt, never heard of that before. I too have recently done the Turtle wax ceramic and I've been very impressed with the results on both my Roadster and my wife's (daily driver, all winter) Z3... the Z3 looks as good as the day I did it.

Tell me more about the Turtle Wax Ceramic Wet Wax. I've been mostly using Griot's products, and sometimes Mothers Brazilian Carnauba Cleaner Wax or Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 (mainly for the Boxster's Xpel film, which you cannot apply regular wax to). Besides the regular car body, I'd like to get a coat of wax on the firewall before I start bolting stuff to it.

After clay baring, I tried the Turtle Wax Hybrid solutions Ceramic polish and wax on both my black Roadster and my wife's red Z3. Drove the Roadster all summer, then put it away. Stayed shiny all season. My wife uses hers as a daily driver, and she drove it all winter and I don't think I washed it more than once until a couple weeks ago and it's still very shiny. It deepened the color on both cars. I've since used their Ceramic Acrylic Black Wax on the Roadster and that was a nice addition as you can use it more frequently and it helps with imperfections/scratches.

Well, the day started well. I removed and stored my seats after having drilled new holes to move my them further aft for more legroom. Now to finish the body to frame bolts. That should be quick 'n' easy, right?

Unfortunately, the body was too far away from the frame to get the bolts started in the engine compartment unless I removed either the flat washer or lock washer. After fighting it for too long, this was my solution:

...
What you're looking at is a couple of old ratcheting tie downs around a 2x4 and 4x6 to pull the body and frame together to get those two bolts to start. The 2x4 is wrapped to not mar the paint. Hey, it worked.

Don't know why I had to do this. Anyone else ever run into this?

Gee. Wonder what Murphy has in store for me mañana?

Sometimes, just getting one, simple item installed helps.
