I couldn't find glass tape that was 2.75in wide which is what you need if you are trying to cut a single piece. I bought this rubber sheet and cut a 3" x 6" piece and used some 303 Aerospace Protectant as a lubricant to force the glass into the bottom pivot frame channel. You can pull on it and stretch it a bit if it doesn't want to push into the frame as is. Sharp exacto to trim the excess.

Peter, if you go looking for those neoprene washers the Home Depot number I provided is the SKU number, not the part number which I just realized. Model No. is 815738. Some of the photos on line are messed up and I assume are generic.

Sorry people this was in reply to the license plate light 💡 idea, well this one works great too.
Thank you for all this wisdom that is collected and saved makes it a lot easier to find and save me and dad time because u know I'm 16 and never enough time. I guess you are teaching me patience as well.

You're very welcome Pau. We're excited for you and are happy that you have taken an interest in these cars. More important is the learning and connection that comes from doing something like this... this can be much more than just a thing you do, it can really help create a way of analyzing problems, creating solutions and executing "the plan" that will pay off hugely in life in so many ways. And yes, cars DO teach patience! There's immediate gratification AND long term celebration doing a car, and a lot of hard work too. But, the better you get at analyzing the problem, asking questions, formulating solutions and taking action the easier it becomes. And then you find out that you can apply these same skills to many of life's problems that will come along the way, and instead of feeling overwhelmed by them you'll feel prepared to attack them, knowing you can be successful even when it's a struggle. That's powerful stuff, all from doing a car project.

If I may suggest, have a clear, strong vision in your mind of you driving and enjoying the car; that creates motivation. Create a plan or list out what needs to be done as best you understand it. Look at the flow as well as understand what you CAN do NOW and what needs to wait for money, time, info, specialists, etc. Create solutions and weigh the pros and cons. Now you're in a position to take EFFECTIVE action that moves the project forward and can flex to new events or challenges. Celebrate your successes as you go along... post pics, tell your friends, wow your neighbors... success breeds success! Finally, keep us posted!

After 30 + years of peppered road rash all over my front end and mismatching right fender color, I decided to try my hand at Rattle can painting. Duplicolor came thru pretty well. I’m quite happy with the results. I still have to cut/buff but also polished up the scoop trim with 320-2000 grit and buffed. About 5 cans of Chevy Torch Red + 4 cans of 2k clear.

Looks GREAT ! No sags no runs, and no bugs tap dancing in it !! Great JOB!! You did the whole hood with rattle cans ??

Knew a Good Ole Boy from the coal hills of Pennsituky, who on one humid summer night, fortified with a case of Bud long necks and carton of rattle can ENAMLE paint proceeded to "RENEW" a '59 Desoto in the bay of the local "CITY SERVICE" gas station.
Once His "Beer Googles" cleared, he found that he painted everything ( including the glass) and the dried to a Emory board finish, where it hadn't run off the fender.
It was, in fact 'RENEWED"

Yesterday morning I disassembled my 66 engine which I had replaced with the stroker motor. The engine never had any power and previously I discovered it had a mixed set of cam and crank gear, one SAE and one metric. The engine is all standard rod bearing and piston and looked just fine. I could just freshen it up and it would be fine. Going to take it in to be machined for 1800cc.

I was going to use my slide hammer to remove the rear bearing cap which worked perfect on the 10mm hole for the metric engine. Upon trying to match a bolt for the pull hole nothing matched. Not 5/16, 3/8 or 8mm. Finally I get out my tap and die set and find out it is a M9x1.25 thread. Just try and find one of those that aren't stupidly priced. So ordered some 9mm steel rod from McMaster Carr and will make my own.

No wonder Datsun had a 'special' tool to remove it. I hate Datsun engineers.

Curtis, cancel your order, it isn't an odd thread. On the SAE blocks it is 3/8-16. If that won't go in, chase it with a tap, it is just buggered up.
The metric blocks are metric.

I have the special rear/center cap removal tool, have used it 1000 times and it makes the job EASY. If anyone wants the tool, we can duplicate it.

Well I did try 3/8 and cleaned it up and the only thing that worked was 9mm. I'll look again but the hole simply wasn't big enough for 3/8 as far I could tell. I tried course and fine thread. Dave F. took his to Tacoma screw and they could not match and could not figure out what it was.

Well turns out it is 3/8 course and the hole was boogered a bit. Just ran the tap in to it. M9 x1.25 is a virtually identical thread which explains why the slightly smaller 9mm went in the hole. So Dave's must have needed to be cleaned up too. Given that Datsun used SAE and metric wherever they pleased on these early cars you can never tell what to expect. Oh and I loved finding out it was British pipe thread for water fittings.

This is what happens when people pound on the thing to get it in. They must have changed the bearings at some time which explains the wrong cam gear.

The "tool" can be duplicated with a length of angle, a length of threaded rod, or bolt, 2 nuts, and 2 chunks of 2x4. I've used it many times. Pat
