Assembled my wing windows...baby steps.

I found the following neoprene washers worked well for the front/back side glass pivot hardware

Home Depot 1/4" P/N # 597 487. pack of 4

Pivot hardware screw,

Everbuilt Oval Head #10x32x1/2" Stainless

I couldn't find glass tape that was 2.75in wide which is what you need if you are trying to cut a single piece. I bought this rubber sheet and cut a 3" x 6" piece and used some 303 Aerospace Protectant as a lubricant to force the glass into the bottom pivot frame channel. You can pull on it and stretch it a bit if it doesn't want to push into the frame as is. Sharp exacto to trim the excess.

Today, since it was prerty much just raining, I decided to give the car a good once over underneath, just to make sure everything looks tight, not leaking or wearing funny. I need to do the pre-summer lube, but nothing looks dry. I did note the leaking steering box... what's the grease everyone suggests now over gear oil? Checked all the brake lines, calipers and mounting bolts, all good (I lost a caliper bolt once on the way to Shasta, so I still check 'em). Looked over all the fuel lines and wiring I did for the EFI conversion, and everything was happy. Frowned at the good ol oil leak, thinking it's the darn rear main. But then I decided that I really had not fixed what I know IS a source of oil, namely the oil pressure sender on the block (early car). I've seen it drip, and the case was loose. I happened to have another one I had used in testing but it had read a bit lower than my original, so I had swapped it back out. Decided "I know the engine has oil pressure, so let's see if the sender is actually leaking a lot more than I thought", hoping against hope that it's been the source the whole time! I also redid the gasket for the distributor mount just in case and found a thin o-ring for the groove that might help it seal, if it was leaking at all (?). I haven't run the engine yet, so we'll see, but it was good to look her over and give the car a clean bill of health for carving up some corners soon. Can't wait for summer! Building the EL distributor (from 310 reman) for a non-advance solex car. Trying to figure, then, make the critical inside-shaft spacer (diameter and length uugh) allows me (20 years later) to appreciate G. Boone & T. Hoagland who graciously dropped by my (then Denver) casa in 02' and dropped one in my 2L ----in 15 minutes.

Fyi, While foing research on this very subject Ivtried looking up on the “techwiki” and fiund the “dizzy” pass word protected not sure if it was something I was doing wrong (probably) but hey this is a journey!
I will subscribe so. That i can learn more on this as i. Want to move from the points as they are not as reliable as they once were or my dealings with them, interested to learn more on the electronic ignition as well as maybe efi??? Can it be done on the 16r motor etc….

Finally got around to replacing my front wheel lug bolts with longer Dorman. Although I’ve never had issues with loosening lug nuts the oem ones really are quite short and seemed like only less than ten threads were holding the rims on. Feel little more secure now that these are about 1/2 inch longer. Other than about 3 whacks with a persuasion tool (BFH) old ones slipped right out. The toughest part was removing the hub to rotor that may slow you down a bit but fortunately a air impact tool helped me out. Used a washer spacer with lug bolts to tighten new ones on. Whole job done easily in couple hours. Greased the bearings while at it. Murphy never showed up ! Such a simple car! Not daunting at all.

Needed to fix my reverse light on my 1967 as the rubber contact plate holder disintegrated. This is not an issue on later cars as an all metal socket is used. Pat did a nice write up for this issue back in 2020. But I ran across an old thread via a 311s Google search from 2011 by Blinds04 who rarely posts which seemed a bit easier to accomplish. My tweak uses the supplied Dorman spring to put positive pressure on the contact plate. Blinds04 did not use the spring and instead used a couple washers as spacers for contact plate to bulb connection. I'd thought I'd put my fix in this thread as it is updated weekly and will be easier to find (maybe)

The Purchase, Dorman 84719. Rockauto $15 with shipping, Ford Socket. This part from my search maybe drying up so best get one for your stash pile. Prices are all over the place.

Trim spring approximately in half. Before and after. Flatten the angle of the wire a bit on the trimmed end.

Thread Contact plate with spring through the now attached rubber socket on your reflector plate. Cut side of the spring towards the socket.<p>

Boom! Tail on the Rubber socket will need to be trimmed for room in the housing. Maybe a dab of silicone as the that will leave a less than tight fit around the wire after trimming. Solder your ground wire back on just above the rubber socket if previously removed. Now for some reflector plate clean up and a shot of mirror paint.
