Yep, just waiting for the inevitable post of "I can’t believe how awesome the car rides and handles now!" Sure to be another convert. Just two days ago we drove up a ways toward Mt Rainier which has some less than perfect roads, and I once again said out loud "Thank you JT!"

For a long time I have not run a heat shield under my Mikuni/Dellorto carbs or (now) throttle bodies for a few reasons: 1) Mine was fractured around the mounting holes and needed to be welded; 2) the heat shield makes installing the nuts for the throttle bodies a real bear to say the least; 3) I have a coated header that's also wrapped in Heat Shield to block heat. Yet, the throttle bodies always got hotter than I liked, and since there's also a throttle positioning sensor inside and injector wiring on the bottom of the TBs exposed to heat, I decided to do some kind of heat shielding that would be easy to remove so as to not interfere with mounting the TBs to the manifold.
A few days ago I made a template out of card board and then cut out a copy from some sheet aluminum. Finalized the fit, making bends etc to make sure it didn't vibrate or rub anywhere and mounted it with two screws. Did a test run and was very happy with it but the plate itself would get hot of course, and the wiring could come in contact. So, I ordered some high temperature (800 degree), self adhesive heat shielding off Amazon that came today and cut it to fit the plate. Works freakin great. I may paint it black, but I don't have any high temperature paint right now. BTW, not sure why the pics are upside-down but if you click on them they're correct.

Busy weekend. Jason Rector came to town to pick up some goodies, and brought me a clean gas tank. HUGE thanks to Jason for that! So, after getting him and his treasures on his way, I got to work on 237. I swapped out the gas tank, replaced the rear brake shoes, changed out the fuel bowl assembly - and I have to disagree with the 67 2000 guide - the bowl shown there is not how either of my 67 2000s were set up - I installed a rebuilt fuel pump. A few more tidbits to go and she will get registered for street use.

The filter set up? Mine is gone of course (it leaked air and left me gasping for fuel one too many times, and I'm EFI now anyway)...

Yes, the filter. In the guide it shows a straight fitting on the output side. Mine both have 90 degree fittings

Well after finding my 67 2000 in 2013 I finally got plates today (ordered vanity plates and 67 SRL was available). The only bad thing is Grorgia charged me for every year since 2013 as the car was never registered after I transfered the title. Going to try what Sid did and drive around by my house while I finish the resto!

Thanks Tom! It was well received. I scored a spot with some shade, and a lot of folks really loved the fact that it is "as found". In fact, only one person commented about me restoring it, and that was a bit tongue in cheek. There was a really cool 29 Model A rubleseat roadster there that edged me out on patina.

Because there are so many different shades of white on my Roadster (as I cover rust spots and dings along the way), I have basically been neglecting the finish on my Roadster for too long. Decided to wash and claybar the car today - wow! Shame on me for not doing this sooner. I then used some Ceramic wax that I have fallen in love with on my newer cars. Decided to try it on the Roadster and I continue to be impressed and love this stuff. Plus it is amazingly easy to use, spray on a wet car, wipe evenly into the paint with a wet rag (1^st use only), then hose off and dry. After the first time, just clean the car, spray on, hose off and dry. Amazing results and can't believe it worked so well on my tired old paint! Less effort that washing the car. Because this stuff is hydrophilic, the car dries off super fast and easy. Much recommended!
