Early Miata seats . Very comfortable, good support and you can find them pretty easily

Replaced a failed clutch slave cylinder with a new unit The new part was supplied by Jim/Lyn Tyler at Datsun Restoration Products. Kudos to them for super-quick shipping which got me back on the road in time for a great weekend drive. They even threw in a Speedbleeder which GREATLY SIMPLIFIED the bleeding process on the slave cylinder. THANKS!!

Hey, redroadster, what seat rails did you use for the Miata seats? I really like the ones I put into my 240 and was thinking of doing the same for the roadster.

My work for the day was to put in a lower ball joint this morning. The old one was incredibly shot.

Replaced 3 seals in tach cable and pinion at distributor housing to eliminate a small leak per Tech Wiki instructions.
Now on to the transmission speedo cable.

Apparently you were denied the drama that a few of us had with this job three years ago, before we knew that the parts were different between early and late.

Replaced the late style (closed) Solex Air Cleaner Assembly that was originally on the roadster with an early style (open) complete with ITG filter.
The PO had drilled extra holes around the bottom & sides to increase the air-flow but I think that this new one will work out a lot better.
Thanks to JT for another quality part from Datsun Restoration Products.

In the last 3 days, I traded a motorcycle project for a 1968 Roadster 2000 that had seen better days, but deserved to come back to life.

Day 1: brought it home - long day and drive.

Day 2: cleaned it out (a hot mess), sorted out what was what on parts etc in the car and trunk, installed battery and started checking out wiring and electrical components (lights work, wipers work, fan works, hazards work - no blinkers, no crank, no radio)

Day 3 (today): with some help from various roadster fans both here, and in FB groups, figured out the no crank condition was due to ignition switch plug. Cleaned corrosion and engine now cranks. Also replaced coil and cleaned and regapped points and now have spark at all 4 spark plugs. Tested mechanical fuel pump running outlet hose into bucket and no fuel while cranking. Sprayed a small shot into the manifold and got it to start to fire off, so good day overall and feel like progress is moving ahead. Tomorrow it will be on to the fuel delivery. Oh, also bought stuff to add the 30 amp fuses, etc

Garage cleaning must be in the air because that has been all of my day as well to get a winter stable area for the beast to rest in while we tear it down

I installed a new fuel level sending unit into the fuel tank that I had refurbished a couple of weeks ago. I have the body ready to pull next Friday when I have help. Yesterday I pulled the dash. I already had the interior out and steering column out, and it took about 2 hours to pull the dash I used a Kawasaki angled screwdriver to get those pesky screws on top of the dash without pulling the windshield. The oil sensing line was my real challenge to get to. There are a couple of broken or missing knobs I will need to locate.
