Harbor Freight had some respirator masks on sale.
Glass is bad for your lungs. Don’t count on coughing stuff out, can’t necessarily do that.

Dyed my seat belts today using both Rit liquid black dye and the powdered Rit dye from Walmart. They both work pretty much the same. Regular stirring over about 40 min. They are now blacker than they were, will see how they look after drying. I have to clean up the metal.

After polishing the hardware a bit of improvement, needs more. I used a Dremel and some metal polish to brighten them up some. Doesn't beat new hardware but it is just a refurb.

Thx Tom. The dyeing was the easy part. Dremeling the metal to clean off dirt and oxidation, then some chrome polish used with the Dremel and a stainless wire brush got them looking better, but takes time.

That Zolatone came out very well. You can certainly see the depth to it, and from what they say about it on the website it should be very durable to.

Ah the joys of living in the frozen north... after a February of frigid record colds spells, above zero (Celsius) temps are a welcome site this week. We have no shortage of sunshine, just a bit lacking in heat for a few long months. So yesterday I opened my garage door to the above zero world , put the key in , turned it with anticipation of that distinctive solex air sucking glory...my excitement had to wait . Three key turns later, after 5 months sitting quiet, the little Red beast gurgled, sputtered then roared to life. Suddenly winter vanished and dreams of the open road were in sight. I let it run for 15 minutes, taking in all the sounds , ensuring that all was well.. now I wait for the snow to melt away and the roads to be cleaned . I can’t wait. But step one is now complete. She started with no issues and at least, the engine runs beautiful.
My winterizing last October paid off.
See ya on the open road👍

Been working on the car almost every Saturday (if time and the wife allow). So, lets see- the brakes at the wheels are done, need to do the fluid, Aluminum 3 core radiator is in, at a slightly reclined position, seats are done, all the pretty gauges are in (makes me want to pull them out and redo the dash, cause it don't look to good against John's beautiful work), dual 40mm Mikuni's are in place ready for the fuel line and linkage, master cylinder has been relocated to make room for said Mikuni's, and since my son lost the original gas cap (kids, like a grizzly bear with a new peter) I relocated the filler to inside the truck and added a charcoal canister, and put a grill badge over the hole. I know I am forgetting stuff, but hey its all good.

gr, thanks for the pic of the inside fill. My car will be going soon for the exterior paint with NO exterior fittings. I was just trying to think of a way to fill the tank without the fill tube. I will build a temporary for inside with plumbing fittings.

That was my original plan as well, and maybe will be in the future again, but I really like the way that grill badge fits there.

I finally ordered a new windshield from prosource, I still have the original in the car and it is very pitted and scratched, when the sun is low it is almost impossible to see out. Now just need to order a new gasket kit, but that can wait until the windshield arrives in 1 piece.

Several year ago while out on a drive in So Cal in the desert, we hit a short rain before the sun came back out... my old sandblasted windshield was as transparent as a sheet of aluminum... couldn't see a thing. You'll love the new one!
