Thought it would be fun to appease my fellow originality-nerds at Z-Bash Saturday by swapping back in the smog pulley and 7-blade fan.

Haha! Have a new, non-polished valve cover in the queue from Rallye for the San Marino show in June. These Solexes original to the car? Nope. But I think I should get partial credit for having a genuine dealer-option set made especially for the Roadster.

As far as a smog pump, my devotion to originality only goes so far! I do have the unrestored setup in a box though...

lol! It's a tasty engine bay for sure...very drool worthy. Solexes are just icing on the cake well done on the conversion!

I finally got the door to fit properly. When I bought the car the back of the door was dragging on the threshold. I temporarily shimmed the bottom hinge with some washers to straighten it. Recently over a few hours I tried different things and kept trying the fit, and was getting pretty frustrated, until it occurred to me in the middle of the night that the problem was collision damage to the post behind the hinge. I went at it again this AM. I used a punch to take the wave out of the surface that the hinge mounts to, tried it again and it fits the magic 3/16 most of the way around.

Now I just need to add a little filler to the front edge of the door where collision damage has opened the gap.

C.Costine,

That's the way!

I have found that many of my problem solutions or great ideas occur while lying in bed!

I guess sometimes the brain just needs a little time to "reboot".

Cleaned carbs and check the float level, blocked off the thermal valve return line on the rear carb.
Took for a drive, runs like it used too years ago. Whoohoo!!!! I'm happy ... and for Ted, I'm sure he
will appreciate the artistry applied by my make shift plug

I also changed to tranny oil. Couldn't find the Swepco stuff so I used the same as Stacey.
Oil a little low? Time to get a longer dipstick:)

Even though there was plenty of tread, it was time to replace the 20 year old tires! So I took the opportunity this past week to have all 5 (yep, including the spare) tires dismounted, have the stock rims media blasted and powder coated, then have the new tires mounted. Will get them back on the car tomorrow...have to watch the Warriors and Cavs in game 4 tonight!

And the interior of the rim...specifically asked the tire shop to only put weights for balancing on the inside of the rims, NOT on the outside.
