Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)
Yesterday was Xmas in June for the Roadster! First stop, after a 3+ hour drive to Chico, was Steve Pettersen's shop to pick up my newly rebuilt Transmission. For those who don't know, Steve is a longtime Datsun expert and restoration guru - he restored the gorgeous RHD 67.5 that won Best of Show at Solvang earlier this year. He's also probably logged more time on our transmissions than anyone else...well worth the drive!
Next stop was back in San Jose to pick up my newly refurbished Libres.
Finally, I found this little jewel waiting for me at home. Have I mentioned lately what awesome work Jim (JT68) does? There probably isn't another "vendor" that provides as much bang for the buck - we are lucky to have him making parts for our cars.

Christmas indeed! Love the wheels. Swepco for the trans if it's not already in there IMHO... still amazed at how much cooler the stick shift is.

Ya, it really is worth the effort of getting it online etc. A bit more expensive than some but after experiencing how much less heat is developed in the trans (based again on the stick shift temp) it has to be lubricating better than what was in there before (and was new). Only my wife complains that she lost her hand warmer...bakerjf wrote:Agreed - I've been a Swepco convert for a few years now. Great product!Gregs672000 wrote:Christmas indeed! Love the wheels. Finished getting the battery relocated to the trunk. Getting really close to finally trying to start her up!

Not fair, too much eye candy at one time. I need eye drops!bakerjf wrote:Yesterday was Xmas in June for the Roadster! Well over the past week I've been chiseling away at what some call "asphalt"
Too hot to try dry ice, besides I need the Exercise!
And per a recommendation from a northern CA efficianado with 40 years of experience working on roadsters, I'm prepping this for POR- 15 application

Swepco has been in one of my cars since 2000. Only can't use it with brassGregs672000 wrote:Ya, it really is worth the effort of getting it online etc. A bit more expensive than some but after experiencing how much less heat is developed in the trans (based again on the stick shift temp) it has to be lubricating better than what was in there before (and was new). I just bought plain chrome caps, and then the "Datsun" center stickies separately - both on EBay. The stickies are probably 30 years old; there's still a bunch on EBay.msampsel wrote:Who made the center caps, Tom and I are dying to know! (Hope Tom does not mind my assumption)

That's what I was thinking. The plan is to mount the Cinturatos on them this week, and use them for the trip up to Shasta.msampsel wrote:I still have some stickies hanging in my garage.
