I'm at the beginning and can only hope that my results look as nice as Stretch's.
I've pulled everything out, the picture was before I finished. Luckily my floors are solid!
I hope to get Dean's full interior kit installed over the following two weeks.

Great time to pull the dash and cap it as part of the interior restoration.

I've got a "new" one from an SRL that I plan on replacing it with.

Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)
My baby's original owner (I'm the second) had a new paint job put on in 1980 - 36 years ago! There are a number of areas that have some chips, peeling where the masking was done poorly, etc. So I've plans later this summer to get a new Spanish Red re-paint done right. Until then, I want to get her looking a bit more presentable for driving. I got started over the weekend trying to resurrect what I can with the existing paint, which is severely oxidized. The rear panel of the car was the worst part, so I pulled all the lights and bumper and spent about 2.5 hours rubbing it out with some heavy duty compound and then buffed it with some very satisfying results...
One interesting observation when I removed the bumper - there were only two brackets, left and right. I've seen some references to a middle bracket as well on some earlier models, by my 1970 has no center bracket, no mounting point on the bumper, and no mounting holes in the frame either.

The PO had also backed into something and tweaked the rear bumper putting a nasty crease and dent in the left rear. We'll get that taken car of as part of the paint job and get the bumper straightened and re-chromed.
Any recommendations for bumper repair and re-chrome in the south SF bay area...?One interesting observation when I removed the bumper - there were only two brackets, left and right. Red oxidizes a lot, so it's fun and rewarding to buff it out... Nice!

Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters only)
I solidified my fuel pressure regulator attachments (used the old fuel filter hole)
and put the some touches to the MSD street fire control module.
So far the car runs great, oh and I repaired the dogbone which fell apart post last drive.
Be sure your dogbone lock nuts are tight! Lucky to find the dogbone bolt on the frame against the firewall!
Thinking I was due for some good luck
It is getting crowded on the passenger side with E fuel pump, pressure reg, collision cuttoff switch and MSD street fire control module!
Might have to stuff the battery in the trunk for something to do!
Hope the MSD module runs okay upside down. Set the rpm limit to 7700 rpm.
Red line of 8000 ...
Cheerio

Oh so you added the MSD instead of just the coil.
I think you will like this solution alot.

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

No, trying to get much farther from the city. The house is up in Methuen on the NH line.C.Costine wrote:

Are you referring to the second story of the garage? That's going to be my wood shop. I build high-end speakers as a hobby.fj20spl311 wrote:She is a winner, are you going to make that granny flat into a clean room?
