Oddly enough, the local news did a story on the plates last night. DMV was pretty vague and said the black and yellow plates had enough preorders and the plates should come out after Jan. 1st or maybe the first quarter.

All,
DMV mail came today saying my plates will be ready for pick up in 8-12 weeks. Now I don't know how I feel about these now it's like running fake wheels :P

Ha ha ha. I feel the same. Got my letter earlier this week. Need someone to paint it old school colors without the reflection. Yeah I know that would not be legal but who is really going to call you on it?

Agreed. I went for plates that would look good but obviously not be period. If they ever get to me and it all works out, I'm thinking about getting some generic in sequence for the Mustang because I think the black plates on a black car would look a whole lot better than the white plates they gave me.
Those will probably get me stopped because they will look like old plates on a new car.

I just saw a 2015 BMW 335i running the "new" black plates. It was terrible. I remember seeing these on a late model Mitsubishi Eclipse too.

I think DMV said a year ago it would be sometime around June so August is just about DMV on-time.
I'm glad they aren't in the shipping business.

Did you get a random sequence one or a personalized one.

I saw one on a parked car yesterday. The font and spacing are different than the originals. Disappointing, in my opinion.

Mike,
That is Dave_The_Car_Guy's 2000!
I agree, the new plates look uber cheesy. So what do I now, can I still run my old white/blue plate?

Hmm. I have my new plate on on order but I also have an old plate that I never registered. I may have to go the old plate route depending on the new one's look.
I have heard so many horror stories getting the old plates back in rotation that I am iffy about going that route :(
