From the DMV Legacy License Plates FAQs...
Q5: What other fees will be due for the 1960’s Legacy Plates?
A:$40 for renewal
$15 to transfer the plates to another vehicle
$35 for substitute plates
I wish they would have come up with a way to take old plates and introduce them into the system then make exact copies available. Seems they didn't want to make new dies, change the software or policies and just opted for a huge profit to pay off the deficit.

I had a DMV question emailed to me from another 311s member, so I guess I should point out that I never worked for the DMV, that was said tongue-in-cheek in the post above.
