New 'round here

Hi All,
I am a "long time" roadster owner, and have recently discovered that there was a forum attached to the registry on this site

My car is in the registry , 69, #09813. The car has been mostly completed since the photo was taken, interior, canvas top and boot, and a bunch of other stuff have been completed. I have recently decided that while I love this little car, it doesn't get much use and it may be time to sell to someone who will actually use it. Can you all help me to put a value on it?
I am in Tacoma WA, the car has 46,000 original miles on it, and runs fantastic. I did timing chains and clutch this last year, and also detailed the engine and trans while they were out. Thanks for your input! [:y:]

Pretty car! More pics!
Assuming no rust and repainted, $8000? More? I'm a newbie, don't put much weight on my opinion!
No disrespect intended, but I think most new owners will want to change the wheels.

Definitely need more pics, interior, engine bay, trunk, under the car.
Any rust? Any known issues? Is it original paint?
Garm seems to be about right to low (IMHO) depending on just how good it is, but it's tough to value without more info.

A friend of mind just sold a '70 that was not in as good condition (as far as I can tell from the 2 photos) for over $10,000
Hard to say what yours is worth without some additional photos.
If you get serious about selling I would try to pick up a set of stock wheels.
Cheers
James

James hit on something, I think is important. You have to decide if you want to go original or modified. Original, in my mind, means "as close to it as I can get" for most of us. That means keeping the side trim, original engine, wheels and something close to original look interior.
Modified means anything goes. swap the engine, trick out the inside and put some nice bling wheels.
Both are good. Both have value when done right.
Just don't make it an offroader.

^ Looks stock to me except for the interior and wheels. MORE PICTURES WOULD HELP.

Thanks Gentlemen! Maybe a little background on this journey would be helpful. I purchased the car from the original owner in California around 1998. It was a daily driver for its first ~4 years of life, and then was set aside in favor of a porsche, and was intended to be a slalom (autocross?) car... it never made it to coming out of the garage again until I purchased it. It was mostly dissassembled for paint when I purchased it, interior out, boxes of other parts, and not running. So on a trailer it went. I towed it here to WA, and started the resto-mod journey. I am a form and function guy, and while I did not build this car to "Original", I did my best to make the modifications tasteful, and reversible. On the wheels, I love them, but I can understand the other perspective also... So I saved the period correct empi split rims that were on the car when I purchased it. I heard recently that they were very desireable, so who knows... storing them for the last 15 years was probably a good idea

I am adding a few more pictures... Hard to tell from the pics, but the motor has been cleaned and painted in the original datsun blue/green... Trans was meticulously wire brushed to original aluminum shine. (yep, a little OCD for me too) I don't have any undercarriage pics. I guess I never thought to take any before

It is mostly stock, or in a similar to original style. The interior is "sandstone"... burned my legs too many times to count on black while I was working on it, so that was not really an option for me even though it was original.
- I believe it to have the competition posi rear end, as it runs about 3000 RPM at 60 in 5th gear. (I have the original also)
- larger (and original) front sway bar.
- new recurved distributor,
- air pump delete (I have it)
- new Excedy clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing
- master clutch and brake cyls replaced
- wheel cyls replaced
- Original horn button was torn when I got it, but I have the wheel and all the parts
- Car was stripped to bare metal, epoxy primered, sanding primer, epoxy sealer, base/clear paint... I would give it an 8 out of 10, but I am hard on myself when grading my work
- every thing is functional, except the gas guage and the reverse lights, but I haven't had much time to dig into that recently, but I woudl guess that there is a grounding or connection issue.

Much more information. I'd say your are easily north of $8K value, not sure what though, maybe $10-$12K?
Good luck with a sale!

$12,500 is probably realistic.

Since we are all weighing in here, the most important factors are accuracy of the mileage, state of the engine and rust. Everything else is mostly easily fixed. Receipts help.
I like the interior , looks great.

I recall seeing this car at an Oregon show recently. It is very nice. If you are not in a hurry to sell, I would suggest waiting until the weather improves around here, at least spring (waiting for the weather to improve on a consistent basis in the Northwest can mean waiting a long time!). And then again, maybe you'll fall in love again... it is a very nice car, and it's hard to beat a convertable in the summer! Good luck regardless...
