I was just wondering is any one has looked in to ways of stiffening the chassis? Yes I know you can add a roll bar or cage. More looking at the frame to help reduce flex. No you may not feel if yet it is always just around the next corner.
I was talking with a shop who welds in between all spot welds. At first I was like a total waste for a older 60s car. How much does it really help?!? After my short hard drive I need to remove my foot from my mouth.
Like I mentioned just wondering. Ok maybe no one has thought of it.
Thanks for you thought and input
Trevor

Re: Stiffening chassis/body
The stitch welding you saw is widely used on unibody cars, mostly around shock towers.
On a body-on-frame car like the roadster you bring a up a great point of debate: does the frame distribute it's stiffness through the body?
14 bolts tie them together. Short of a roll cage that ties the body/frame or more x-braces on the frame I can't think of anything else. Plus, more braces = more weight.
I always wondered if a cross bar or x-brace behind the seats would help.

I know that "Down Under" they weld in a brace just the engine side of the firewall and another in the trunk to help keep the body from flexing as much.

Re: Stiffening chassis/body
I don't know about stiffening, but I have seen people install front hoops when they remove the inter-fenders. I was thinking of welding the body to the frame.
