Alvin,
If and when I get my car put together again we are definetly going to have to race. I think it will be a very good race. It appears that I managed to either blow up my LSD or broke an axel (I havent taken it apart to find out. If its an axel, its all good. If its not... .) Your very consistant with your times. My best launchs with the old engine were from about 3500rpm and shifted at about 6000 rpm. With a 230lb passenger and a stop watch I did a 15.5 with a slight uphill. I didn't get to try it with the new one. Aperently my driveline wasn't up to the new engine.
As for the burnout section, it would help to get your tires up to temp. It will help your launch. Dumping the clutch from 5K will result in massive wheel spin.

have fun,

Will

Alvin, thanks for sharing. Two questions:

1. Your pics are great. What camera you using?
2. What's a GN? Looks like a Monte Carlo to me.

Alvin:
Your pics are are great, and definately a source of inspiration. I know all about the X-Mas tree lights and reaction (or lack of) time. The first Auto-X I had my Beast at was a benefit fundraiser for a Hospital's children wing in Northern Virginia about 15 years ago. It was like the 2nd week I had the car, before that I was running a stone stock 1988 Civic. Alot of people were there including some Police driving instructors from neighboring counties. Picture 2 mirror image courses, starting with about a 50+/- yard straightaway than each car bearing off in opposite directions. Luck of the draw I was up against one of the driving instructors in a either a Caprice or a Crown Vic, I don't remember which anymore. Hey, I figured this would probably be my only chance to get away with this and not get a ticket. So I start reving my car (with multiple rust holes in the exhaust, putt..putt...) Red Light Goes on then the Yellow.........The he puts on his Lights and Sirens just as the light turned green! It suprised me so much I dumped the clutch and stalled the car! Our times were close at the end because he hit a few cones during the slalom (pedestrians beware), at least I had a clean run! Afterwards he came over laughing and apologized and said he couldn't pass up the oppoprtunity and took me for a Fun Run at the end of the event.
Man I gotta get back into racing of some sort now that I have a real engine.......

Happy Wrenching and keep those pics coming
Mark
