Door hinge refurbishing.

My apologies if this has been covered before, I did a search and couldn't find a blow by blow description.
My Body Shop man has recommended that I refurbish all four door hinges since the play in them is excessive.
OK, so I took them home and without thinking too much about it, proceeded to dismantle the hinges.
Now, the pin is 5/16"[8mm] in diameter so it is no wuzzy device.
I set them up in a vice to hold them steady, placed a 1/2 nut under the splined end of the pin and bottomed the hinge on the nut.
A squirt of CRC into the slight recession at the tapered end and then proceeded to whack at that end with an 8mm pin punch and a RBFH [Reasonably Big Flaming Hammer].
A couple of sharp whacks and below and hold, the pins started moving
Once free the pins required little pressure to slip right through the relevant holes.
OK, that was easy enough, then I read how HARD these little suckers can be to extract!
Phwew! You gotta be lucky sometimes
Anyhoo, all the pins show wear in the centre section where the smaller hinge plate pivots.
Additionally the hinge holes are also enlarged.
When you insert the pin into the large hinge the interference fit is evident.
Inserting the pin into the small hinge there is excessive slop.
There are a couple of ways to remedy the problem, new pins with replaceable bushes or just the simple pin arrangement the factory used.
So, my new quest is to source some suitable oversize hinge pins and have the holes reamed/bored out to suit.
I will post updates on this as I move through this next exciting chapter
