Hello,
I'm new to this board. I just purchased a 70 1600. I know next to nothing about these cars, although I have a lot of experience with Chevys. I had never even seen one of these cars, but my dad always talked about what great cars they are. So, when a friend told me that he had bought this roadster, but it was more work than he wanted I jumped on it. The car looks to have been driven until it was parked (more than a few years ago) Story has it that it was pretty straight until the owner moved it with the bucket of a tractor. I am now working at getting it cleaned up and assessing the damage. Needs most of the interior, and of course brakes. I have already found lots of good information on this board, especially the parts interchange information. I went to the local Napa today to get basics like oil filter, air filter, plugs, points etc. to at least fire up the engine. I worked at NAPA briefly in high school, and was able to find parts for all of my oddball projects, but we came up empty on everything but the oil filter (they had to order it). Oh well. It will come together eventually.

Glenn,
Congrats on the new family member. Post some pics and info on the registry. I will have to warn you, these things breed like rabbits. I bought my first one in April, now have 2, and am looking at a 3rd. I wonder if Betty Ford has a 12 step program for this?
Your dad is a smart man, they are GREAT cars. My dad had one when he was 18, then another at 30. I bought my first one for my 30th birthday. Must mean great mines think alike.

RE:New Owner
Hey welcome Glenn and feel free to ask us anything. We do not mind giving advice when we can. Unfortunately there are not many over the counter parts available for these little sports cars. Most parts are still available and this is a good resource for finding things you really have a hard time with. Good luck on your adventure and enjoy the car. If you can stop at just one you are a better man than I am.
Have you registered your car yet in the registry? Please do when you get a chance.
Steve
