What have you heard?

Today I walked my daughter through the neighborhood and chatted with a fellow a few doors down from us.
He asks, "Hey so how did you get into Triumphs?"

For a split second I tried to hold back my full Datsun-nerd response

I simply smiled and replied actually it's a Datsun. He looked confused :P Then he said they really have similar lines.

I've been through a security gate and the attendant said Nice Fiat! and I heard a Nissan owner ask "Who's Sunbeam Tiger is outside?"

So that's three occasions, what have you heard?

A friend of mine has restored his Triumph TR4 and he sent me some pics. of the work.
I must say the very first thing that I noticed is the similarity between the TR4 and my SP310 re chassis construction, body etc.

I guess it was just a product of the day but, like today, if the car was without badges, could the average Joe really tell what the car was :?:

I was working on 402 a bit today and a lady walked by and asked if it was a MUSTANG!!!???

That's the most out there I've heard so far.

Cheers

At a stop light "Is that an MG?" Granted I have no badges on the car except the hood, I will remedy that next year.

Maybe that's why they put Datsun on every side of the car. Didn't want any confusion lol.

What is that?
Is that a Cobra?
What is that a Triumph?
What is that a Lotus?,,,,,yes Lotus.
Whoa,,havn't seen one of those for years! (Most popular).
(Enrique at SOLO) I have a 74 Alfa, after seeing this out here, I really want to finish it now.

hmmm no MG yet.

You have put things in perspective. Now I know how my friend with the Lexus feels when I ask him how his new Toyota is doing.

To the untrained, unsophisticated eye, MGs and Datsuns appear the same.

The the untrained and unsophisticated palate Coors Light and Anchor Steam beer taste the same.

i have heard the usual "MG, Fiat, Sunbeam, and Triumph" but i havnt had a single person ask since i put on the stickers down the side. its kinda nice not to have to explain your car every time you get gas.

I had a guy come up to me at a stop sign a few months ago thinking it was an Aston Martin.

I usually hear "HEY, MITCH!...wait, sorry I thought you were a friend of mine."

That guy knows everyone.
