For a used NISMO/Tilton aluminum flywheel for a U20, can the steel insert for the friction surface be resurfaced or does the steel insert just need to be replaced? If replaced, is there a source? The screw heads for the insert have not been rubbed.

Not sure if it was Datsun, but I remember reading you can remove the screws and flip it over. If the holes are countersunk, maybe not.

By the looks of the screw heads, they are countersink type.

Depending on the depth of the wear, I would expect that it can be surfaced. I would NOT be aggressive in doing so though.

I think you're right on this. I'm actually wanting to sell it, since I'm doing a SR20DET swap. Anyone know it's value?

The insets used to be sold thru Tilton,not sure if still have them or not.

If that's the case, perfect. Sell it as is and new owner can add a new surface or not.

DP Racing in Southern California makes these units new for sale and can replace the insert. I have a new one with my current motor. Retail for the flywheel is around $350 new, used needing service $200 ish would be my guess...
