A Lesson in Wheel Fitment

Today I swapped wheels on Sora Blue. I always wanted to see what my Panasports would look like on it.
Here she is with stock 14" wheels and 185/70/14 whitewall tires, and I absolutely love this this look:

With the 16x7 Panasports:

Up front the stance and fitment is perfect imho. The wheelwell is filled up quite nicely:

Sexy!

The lesson I learned? Every roadster is built differently with body panel and frame positioning that will affect clearances both front and rear.

Did you drive it around the block? Was there any rubbing front or back?
Looks sharp.

I saw these wheels on the new VW, first thought was how cool they would look on a Roadster, without the VW logo, of course.
Except for being 5 lug, wrong offset, and having to fabricate a new hubcap, it would look great with whitewalls.

I too really like the white walls on sora, but man those panasports looks really good on there.
Ever think about having an old set of rims cut in half to be wider and running those?
I'd bet Coker has a tire that might work.

What are your offsets and tire sizes for the Panasports?

And what springs are on SoraBlue? That thing is dropped for a static ride height... I love the look...

Alvin,

Only the last pic of Sora Blue shows up for me. Can everyone else see all the pics up top?

It's becuase of the webshots issue Alvin (and everyone else who used it) had to deal with. As far as I have seen, there are loads of "broken" pictures on the 311s.org site now because of it.

Another example of the glaringly different fender clearances on our roadsters. I test fitted my 0 offset 16x7 Panasports on the Side-Pipe roadster.

With a 205/45/16 Hankook R-S3 tire it fit surprisingly well!

When I had 15x6 +10 Panasports with 195/50/15 S-03 tires on my roadster they rubbed in the back and I had to roll the rear lips. This 16x7 is much more wheel/tire, and you can see the inboard/outboard clearances look fine. Every roadster is different!
