Searched the registry and can not find the next best source for restoring early Roadster gauges. Has anyone found another resource since Jon retired from vehicle gauges?
It's been several years, someone has had to have sent gauges out to one of the many other restoration companies. Please share what you have learned.

Check with the vendors they have some restored ones.
Stan would be first on the list.

I've been looking for a shop myself. This afternoon I stopped by Palo Alto Speedometer to see what my options might be.

I have some parts that I may be able to combine into a "franken-tach".
I talked to the guy for awhile. It's a good sized shop and they looked plenty busy. He hasn't done a lot of Roadster gauges so he doesn't have parts on hand. He expressed some concern about getting a perfect crimp on the bezel upon reassembly. He did mention that some parts may be available from Australia. Any input from our Aussie mates?
I'm going to hold off for a bit, but if I get anything done there, I'll let you all know.

Any reason why he thought we might be better off with less than a couple of hundred cars for the entire country ?? Unless there is some similarities to other Datsun variations?1000 ? Etc
None that I know ... But don't take that as gospell ? Any Sydney folk want to chime in ?

When I converted my ammeter to a volt gauge I used APT Instruments. They have a special tool for removing the bezel.

When Jon was doing our gauges, the bezel was cut off with a lathe (I believe) then glued back on so no need for a crimp on the bezel which could potentially damage the finish.

See above link, gaugeguys.
Edit: Keep in mind that my gauge was a partial restoration since it was a conversion. However the silk screening and reassembly were top notch.

They can also help with getting the rings rechromed.

I had mine done at N. Hollywood Speedometers in Hollywood, Ca great work. Although I just had mine refaced, they are pros. They did a super reface job too. Pm me if interested in pics. It's a hi windscreen.

Someone else used parts from an Autometer volt gauge to replace the amp segment in a late gauge. Looked great, on here somewhere.
Jon did my speedo and tach for Bob2 years ago, still look good. I'm going to get Autometer old style gauges for the rest. My current gauges, in comparrison to the speedo and tach, look crappy. New and not stock should match better. Style is very close.
