Sora came out to enjoy the first weekend of summer. After a cruise it is getting a full Mikuni overhaul and a health-check.

The previous owner introduced himself to me during the Coyote Concours this past Sunday. He brought a Miata to the show.

For the first time during our ownership Sora had trouble starting. Might be the starter failing as a jump box didn't seem to make a change in cranking.
With a push start it fired up. Did a nice mountain drive. It even started up normally at the very top with ~35degreeF temps. Maybe it needed to be awakened from a 3-week slumber?

Always wondered which car this was at Shasta. Turns out, it’s 248! This photo I believe was 1990. Different wheels but still has the late door mirror.

Which, the black one? I think that's Gordon Glasgow's 67 2000...

Oh, the black car is definitely Gordon’s car. The car next to it (appears white in the photo), but was actually 248! If you go to the thread “so, you think you know your car’s history” (started by Alvin), you’ll see some photos courtesy of a previous owner of the car with a banged up nose and late model mirror. In a later post, there’s a picture of the car with Mt Shasta in the background and the same OR license plate (different wheels though).

Cole, thanks for posting the historical photos of Sora!

Last weekend we tackled the heating system. A functioning heater is a must for us, and Sora does not have heat!
Image

Carion (previous owner) had blocked the heater since his ownership, and that was ~18years ago!
We confirmed it had a heater core still in place, but the heater cables were not present as a blanking center console plate was installed:

Image

The heater valve was still working and the core had no leaks so we started removing the blocking-off caps.

New reproduction braided hoses from Jim Tyler were installed.
Image

JT even supplied us with the firewall clip!
Image

Added coolant, got it up to temp and we could feel heat from the core! No leaks.

Quick wipedown before driving to a local Cars & Coffee event, she is such a pretty roadster! Some beauty shots:
