New Owner Early 1967 1600

Post by amazgjoe »

Hi all,
I had been looking for a car to replace a 68 Ford Galaxie 500xl for about two years. I sold Galaxie years ago and bought a 1987 Porsche 924s for my wife for my birthday mainly because it looked mint at the time and I couldn't pass up the deal. You see, she loved the car and needed a summer driver so it became hers.
So i was left without a toy for me and had been looking for another unique vehicle ever since.
Last year I passed on this 63 Studebaker gt hawk. Just couldn't spend the $$ on a car at the time.
I pretty much regretted my decision weeks later when I found myself crazy over finding another.
I decided next time I saw a car that unique that I wouldn't pass on the chance.
Fast forward to this year, I'm not really looking for a car for me cause I'm busy trying to find first car for the youngest who is off to college this week.
Wouldn't you know that I come across this little car on craigslist that had been posted for over a month. I sent an e-mail expecting the car to be long gone.
I had been parked ten years ago in a barn and had tons of spare parts to go with it.
After I found it was available I jumped at the chance and was excited to drive and see if it was as good as it looked.
One look at it in person and I knew I would buy it.
The owner's father had passed it to him years ago and he told me that he had owned it for thirty five years.
Since he was moving to Florida he had to clear out the barn for the sale of his house and couldn't take the disabled car with him. I was happy to take it off his hands.
I had not see another Datsun roadster since my younger days while living in San Diego.
So, I'm looking forward to getting the car into shape and will be putting it on the road shortly.
Have to get it to Watkins Glen in a little over a week.

That's a good looking car. Are those Z hubcaps? My car wore those once upon a time.
