Any thing can be done with lot's of money and time. I personally have never heard of a successful modification to rack and pinion steering in a roadster. That does not mean someone has not done it already. An early Z car rack and pinion might be a good place to start. At least it would be the same manufacturer. Good luck!

Yes, it can be done, I have recently modified the front X-member to fit a rack out of a 260Z, you need to almost rebuild the whole x-member, and ofcourse an engineer ticket is needed in Australia. It is a big job that would be best done, at the body off restoration stage and requires a strong liver, as the mods are extensive, for the rack to function propally, eg not bumpn steer etc.

Chris Alston can custom fit a performanc bolt-on rack and pinion. They just required the width the Roadster requires - bolt-n-play. You will be required to weld onthe pinion base mount since your like in down under. Who know maybe they got a outsource partner there.

The company is like 18 minutes from my house. I checked the setup it is really class.
(They also got 4-point rear suspensions too)

Hi,
Have you seen a rack fitted to a roadster??, as the only place it will go with minimal bump steer is right through the middle of the x-member, so I cannot see how it could possibly be that simple "as plug and play", did they remove the drag link and replace it with the rack??
