valves for stroked R16 (buncha questions)

I am having a hard time finding valves for a race prepped R16 head that has over sized valves in it. What came out of the head are chevy valves but that is all I know.
The vavles that came out of the head measure thusly:
Intake stem is .3405" and the body is 1.6945"
Exhaust stem is .3395 and the body is 1.378"
What chevy valves have been used in the R16 race motors please? (What do you use?) How much work had/has to be done to them? If the stem is cut shorter, is it generally ok to have cut off the hardened tip? Also, do the valve bodies have to be cut as well (Do they have a hardened lip that ends up getting cut somewhat?) or is there a valve this size? If so, what is the part number please and from where do you like to buy these parts?
Help!
Thanks!!
tim

I understood that chevy small block valves could be modified. Look up the specs and see if they match.

Tim, what's wrong with the valves in it now? Can they be re-worked or are they too far gone? My friend can make or modify what ever valves you need. The only problem with that is he's so slammed that it would take a while before he could get to them.
I just happened to talk with him now. He said the chevy valves they used before are very heavy, and not good for a race motor that revs. He would suggest making them from smaller 8mm stems or sourcing them from some other application. He does this all the time, but may need your head I would imagine, or a lot of figures n such. If you are not able to find someone local, consider calling him, Steve at Progressive Automotive, 253-565-3633, and you can mention I referred you to him. His shop is located in University Place, WA, near Tacoma.

They might be cut down Chevy valves like mine. If everything fits aside from the fact that they are too long, that would be my guess.

Thanks. I will keep this in mind.
Valves that came out of the head have different thickness in the head: meaning, some are thinner than others. My machinist was not happy putting them back since he said "one looks like you can shave with it it is so thin".
Thanks again

So cutting down the stem length is not an issue? My machinist was worried that "cutting off the hardened tip might make them.....(weak)".
When I read "Chevy small block valves" in a different post, that sounds pretty vague to me. What valves are you using please Will? Can you narrow this down for me please?
Thanks!

I don't know exactly what valves are being used, all I know is that they are Ferrara stainless steel valves for some sort of a Chevy, either 6 or 8mm stems (I can't remember.) The lash pads are out of some sort of Toyota as are the spring keepers. I think the valves were cut down, then rehardened, but I'm not sure.

Dang Will, that is going to suck when you need to replace one and have no clue what you paid for...

The good news is that I know the guy who made them. Hopefully I won't be replacing them anytime soon. If I asked him, I'm sure he would tell me, but he also doesn't want to let his secrets out since this is what he does for a living.
