Hello everyone,
My name is Nick. I was referred to this forum by "zippyroadster" on Cardomain. My dad and I are in the processing of purchasing a 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster. I joined this forum because I figured you guys would have the best advice and would be able to help me with any questions that come up. I am a huge car enthusiast and I post mainly on Mustang related forums, but I enjoy all things automotive.
I'll try to get pictures of the car up as soon as possible! Thanks Guys!

I'm glad to see you got registered and joined us! As mentioned on your other post the car is a 68. It looks like a great start, better then mine looked at the beginning anyway. Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!

Yeah I spoke with the owner and he confirmed it is a 1600 engine, and most likely a 68 or 69. He also mentioned it was a 5 speed?

Stock, the 1600's came with a four speed, the 2000's with a five. I don't know it they are interchangable. The easiest way to tell the difference is the cover on the top of the engine. Ribbed is 1600, smooth is 2000. I'm sure someone can post a couple of pics.

The trannys are interchangeable with a few parts, thicker spacer plate, 5-speed mount and 2 piece drive shaft being the most significant parts.

If it turns over with the key, that's good. 5 sp shifter is closer to the dash, 4 sp closer to the ash tray. Is the windshield nice? Got more pics? 1500 is cheap. I paid 1000 for my 68. Throw the dice, you may be lucky.

Well I figure we have a pretty good start. I have been talking with the owner and he has confirmed a few things for me, he is a car guy! he's restored a CJ Jeep, so at least I know he has done cars before. The car will come will 2 tops, he has replaced all the carpet with J.C. Whitney supplied carpet. It has new tires and the car is rust free, the paint is new and the engine turns over, whew! He mentioned that the fuel lines need to be checked *I would do it anyway, the fuel tank probably needs to be dropped and cleaned, and the brake lines need to be checked. The car ran when it was put away, but he says he hasn't driven it in 6 years, but it's been in the garage. What else should I look for, windshield looks pretty good in the pictures

If it's rust free, you're golden, run and get it and don't look back, (except for spare parts)!
