I found another Roadster owner in Chicagoland

Post by DCooke »

I was driving last night (not in my Datsun) around dusk near Crystal Lake, IL and a roadster pulled out of a side street and past me in a blink. This is a rare site in this part of the country, but I was headed in the other direction & he quickly disappeared. I thought I lost him...but, I figured he would be back since it would be dark soon, perhaps he was just out for a quick evening drive. I came back awhile later to the spot I first saw the roadster & drove into the neighborhood of homes looking for a glimpse of the car, then 2 blocks in, there it was, sitting in a darkened driveway. I pulled over, walked up & rang the doorbell. I soon met the owner, Paul & his son, Boles. They seemed just as excited to come out and show me their roadster as I was tracking down this car in the dark. Anyways, we have found a new Datsun roadster in our area now and made some new friends. Paul said he bought the '70 1600 from someone in Ohio three years ago. It's seems like a nice car, dark red, no side trim, panasports. Paul wasn't familiar at all with the 311s.org community & seemed anxious to get info about parts and tune-up info. I got his e-mail & sent him a link to this site and thought I would introduce him on the forum. I know you all will be very helpful if he has any questions, and you just might see more than one Datsun Roadster at one of our local Chicago suburbs cruise nights this summer...

Very cool, make sure he lists in the registery as well.
Great find and commendable perseverance :-)

It would be a good thing if all the owners are linked here (I know, and impossible dream), then we would never lose a car again. A roadster in the wild would always be able to find an owner to appriciate it.
