12:1 is madness in a street roadster engine. Without really smart real-time engine management (like ~2010 and later) with accurate/reliable knock sensing, you'll have to retard the timing and richen the mixture so much it will run pathetically compared to a properly tuned engine, or else you will be detonating any time you accelerate or have any significant loading. 9or10:1 is a FAR better choice for USA gas. 10:1 will still want 93-94 octane to avoid the de-tuning to compensate. How much is 110 octane/gallon?-Again, nuts for a street engine. Waive off, waive off! 12-13:1 is race gas territory.
