Obtaining vehicle history in California

Post by ppeters914 »

I'm looking at the CA DMV website, but cannot tell which form, if any, to use to try to obtain any oh-fish-all history on the roadster I recently purchased.

Anyone know the drill? Thanks.

Pete,

I think you will be hard pressed to get any information on your car. Was it a salvage title? You could try INF 70R
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf70r.pdf I have no clue if it will work but I think it may be your best shot.

Yes, it's a SALVAGE title (and, yes everyone, I've learned my lesson to NOT do that again. )

There were a couple pieces of paper that indicate the last two PO's, possibly back to '99. I was hoping to maybe track it back further.

The INF 70R form was what I thought, too. Guess I should call DMV before wasting time to fill it out.

Thanks.
