I have access to a low windshield rollbar and was wondering if it is possible to put this rollbar in a high windshield roadster ? What is the difference in the height of the two windshields and is it possible to alter the low windshield rollbar to fit ? I value all of your opinions and would appreciate imput from those who can help !!!

The only thing you will have issues with is vision through the rear view mirror. The roll bar will sit almost exactly in the middle of the view. The low windshield cars had the mirror on the dash so It wasn't a problem. I have this problem and it is anoying.

I have heard of low windshield and high windshield roll bars, but the only web site that I have seen that sells the roll bar (IOPart/Autopower) shows the same part number for both. I have a factory roll bar (Thanks Pete!!) and it clears the top frame on a low windshield car very nicely. Are we sure that they are different height?

I have a high windshield rollbar in my low windsheild 67.5. I even have padding and a vinyl cover on it and my top clears it just barely.
Come to think of it-the bar came out of a high windshield car but who knows-it may have been for a low windshield. I will ask Mike Young about this one or Mike Kerr. One of them will know for sure.

and will my brand spanking new just installed soft top go down in behind the seats with the bar in place?

The only source that I know of that has an original is Carl Jaeger. They look nice on his website. Would look nice in your car too!!

I don't think the top will go all the way down with a roll bar installed. It will almost fit but the uprights will get in the way.

A factory tonneau cover with cutouts for the roll bar was available from Nissan, so I would have to disagree with you on that. It may be tight, but it should be doable.

Carl is listed on the vendors page of the main web site--plus he is listed here on the forum under vendors.
