tie rods options?

tie rods options?
Does anyone know where to buy tie rods? I found them from one of the vendors but almost $500 for the pair... That's a little to high for me. Is it any place that can rebuild them ? Or some one has a descent set? Please let me know.

I saw a set of "refurbished" tie rods and center link on E-bay for $350....not sure what is meant by refurbished, but the price is better.

Try Ross at Sports Imports, or check with a guy who sells roadster stuff on Ebay, his Ebay name is mcboulevard. He sells lots of Roadster stuff. Also try Mike at Datsun Sports. Mike and Ross are listed in the vendor section of this forum. good luck.

Thank you guys, I saw the one on eBay... But for $350 I rather buy from a vendor... I just called Marc to see if he's got a good set. Thanks for the imput guys

I'd still be interested in knowing if anyone rebuilds these?
I've read that rareparts will rebuild the ball joint that they don't sell. Anyone know if they will rebuild a tie rod?

I used 510 left and right threaded tie rod ends (the shorter ones) and had
a shop provide threaded rods to build all 3 tie rods. Having the outer
tie rods adjustable is convenient and allows a wider range of front end
alignment settings (at least on my car). I was surprised at the overall
steering improvement as I thought the existing rods were pretty tight.
Two of the ends are a little difficult to grease other than that work
perfectly. The 510 ends were cheap. I think I bought them at autozone.

I remember either here or on the list someone, maybe Spriso, posted something about using 720 tierod ends either for the center or the short ones. Can't seem to find it. ^ Center. I dont recall whether 6 or 720. Tube is thicker (beefy)and longer, so it must be shortened and rethreaded. IIRC is about $30.00 with ends.

Would a machine shop or a regular auto shop be able to make the threaded rod?

Has anybody tried the tie rod/drag link swap yet? I've got my front end torn apart and would consider trying it, if the local machine shop can make an appropriate rod.
If I used left and right tie rod ends from the 510, would I need to take anything to the machine shop other than my existing tie rods, plus new ends? Or will I have to buy some 510 tie rods and have them cut down?
Also, the center rod would be nice to replace, too. Has anybody tried the 610/710 drag rod swap? I'd like to hear some feedback before I try it. If it takes a lot of work on the part of the machine shop, and it gets expensive, I'll probably just use the rods I have.
