Goodaye everyone.
I'm not currently a Roadster owner but after Sunday (my time) I may become one.

Always owned classic sportscars of one kind or another though always been British and mainly the Triumph Marque, specifically the TR series (3A).

It's been a long and nasty road (pardon the pun) which forced me to sell my Triumphs and got me shopping for something new but I've always been aware of the Datsun Roadster Series, they often gave me a hard time on the road up against my TR. So I'm quite looking forward to my test drive this weekend.

The car is a 1600 low screen model, in white with black interior. It would come with full registration and roadworthy though like almost any car of that era that paint may hide a multitude of sins, though I believe the seller to be genuine.

Anyway I'll keep you all posted.

Oh yeah to the rain. Not where I am but where the car currently lives the owner was locked in by flooded roads. Otherwise would have seen the car a week ago now.

My TR, was upgraded with electronic ignition, alternator and high torque starter motor so I never had issues.. Though to be fair the only frequent British electrics problems I used to get was not on the Triumph but another pommy car with the SU electric fuel pump on hot days.
A lot of the problems these days comes from poor quality reproduction stuff coming out of India and places like that.

Not sure how the Roadsters fare in that area, is there much new old stock around or are replacment parts of quality reproduction?

Other than that it looks to be a very nice example, is there a particular reason for the 1600 rather than the 2000?

Welcome to the forum. It looks great. The 69 tear drop marker lights are a different look. Are those early fenders with the 69 marker lights or modified 69 fenders to fit and early car?

Vendors are excellent. And this site can source almost anything... Lots of Aussies, handful of Canucks, couple of Euros, and a bunch of Americans, so there is stuff everywhere!

Good catch on the fenders - the 69 marker lights do look sharp on there actually...

She looks like a beauty, Mike. I hope it all works well. As for electronics, I think you'll find fewer issues with the Datsun than with most British marques of the same era (crossing my fingers for good luck here). That said, you mentioned a high-torque starter on your TR3. That is a great upgrade on the Datsun as well, and we discussed it on this forum recently when I replaced mine (see threads with titles "Aftermarket starters" and "Starter Replacement"). Thanks guys. Cannot comment at all on the correctness or otherwise of the mudguards (fenders) as I know nothing of the finer details of model spotting.
Budget had some bearing on choice but also not a lot of Datto's around at the moment and I was put onto this one via a non make car club I am in.

Just a bit more information for the record keepers/historians in the club.

Glad you joined us. That one is not in the registry. If you do end up getting the Sporty please submit a registry entry for it. 67 model per the VIN. Good luck with the purchase. You will fall in love with the car once you get one and drive it. I have been to the Triumph side as well. My very first car was a 62 TR3B. Long since gone.

Steve, did you find you made too many comparisons between your TR and the Datsun? I worry I might do that.
The other 2 cars on my short list are so different in style and nature and looks to the TR that I have no worries about always making a comparison.
