14" tires

I have a set of slotted mags of my 240z that I want to put on my roadster. What size tires will fit without rubbing, I tried to run the 195/70/14 but they rub badly on the back. I'm thinking about getting 195/60/14" would that work without rubbing.

Thanks

195 is the section width, so they would be the same width within a mm or 2 and probably still rub. You can get 185/60, by general math, about 10 mm narrower, so 5mm more clearance at the lip. Can you roll the fender lip?

Any idea what brand you have? I have some 5 slots here, 2 ET and 2 ARE's, if it helps make a set, I can measure them and compare to yours.

Are the rubbing inside or outside? Might be able to mill a little off the inside of the wheel to increase offset...

It may just be the wrong offset. I had a set of Z wheels here, just putting the bare wheel on the car I could see it was too far out. Can you get a measurement from the wheel rim to the mounting surface, I can compare to what I have, maybe get you a setup that works.

Today I checked the clearance between the tire and the rear fender using a washer of one of the lug nuts, with me out of the car there enough clearance to slide the washer around, but when I sit in the car the washer gets pined between the tire and the rear lip. What I'm thinking is to have the drum mill an 1/8" also milling the wheel 1/8" as well do you guy's think this is a good idea or not.( milling the out side of the drum and inside of the wheel where it mate to the drum)

Do not like the idea of milling the drum at all. Some wheel mounting surfaces are thick enough to be milled (they would need to be thick enough that with-out milling you would need to run longer studs). If they will fit with stock studs safely - 8-9 turns on the nut they are not think enough to mill, IMHO. If not and you still need to run those wheels, its flares or shorten the Axle.

I would call that very unwise. A set of the right wheels are relatively cheap. Why not establish what you have, brand, back spacing etc and see who has what. Plenty of people have pairs of 5 slots that don't match their other pair. Probably a Z guy somewhere with a set hitting the on the INNER fender.
The pair of ET's I have cost me $25.00 plus the gas to go get them, if they get you out of a jam, I'm happy to break even.
