after driving with you several times and noticing how visible your turn signals/running lamps are I am considering using the switchbacks.

thanks!
Alvin, I put a set in the 66, just fronts, the projector type in the post above. Work well with the stock flasher, really bright, Using amber lenses, so they look yellow on parking and amber in flash. I like them alot.

Those of you running LEDs in the front and rear for turn signals and brake lights, do you have an HD flash can or an LED flash can? I found an HD can at my local store, but no LED can. They are available on eBay, but I don't want to buy one if the HD will work fine. Any experience? Still waiting on my LEDs to arrive, so I cant test on my own yet.

Thanks

I had such mixed results with the bulbs that I got. Mostly losers. It's best if everyone posts up the winners so we can all benefit.

I have a set of the switchbacks coming that were posted at the top of this thread. I've bought my other LEDs all around eBay and have been happy so far. I currently have a set of motorcycle LED lights wired into my rollbar for brake and turn signals, and they work great with the regular flasher. I am sure I will have problems once they are all LED. Hope the HD flasher will resolve it. I'll follow up once they are all in.

Meaning bad bulbs out of the box or bulbs that wouldn't work in our application?

Can't wait to see them all installed Dan!

Tim, both. I had bulbs not work at all, and a lot of bulbs that aren't bright enough to be worth beans. bikermike and others got the good ones -- probably a good reason they are so darned expensive.

The switchbacks were not cheap, so they better work! I put An LED in my reverse light housing. It's not super bright, but neither was the incan. I also replaced the console light bulb, and that is ridiculously bright. As is the license plate bulb.

I put a set of the high output switchbacks,white/amber in my 67.5, they are very bright with my clear lens up front. Stock flasher used, no problems. Looking for high output red/red 1157s and red 1156s now for rear, big improvement.

I think the stock flasher is fine in your case, because it can still read the the incandescent bulbs in the back. I am concerned about when I replace those with LEDs.

I have the switchbacks in front, LOVE Them, really bright. They worked with the regular flashers. I have not replaced the rears yet, but will!

For the rear LEDs, get red ones. When you have a colored lens, the LED should match the color of the lens.

Search ebay for "1157 Cree Red LED" or for 1156 if you need those too. On the 1157s that I bought the difference between brake and running wasn't very distinct in sunlight (both were bright).
I ended up modifying my rear turn signals to act as brake lights for added visibility. (Note that early and later cars are different in their tail light wiring)

I bought 1157s from seller: xuyingya1986
I bought 1156s from seller: stefan.zheng

There are likely more sellers and better pricing now than a few months ago.

Very true. I used red 5050 LED's to make LED taillights for my Frontier:

I renamed this thread as the discussion includes the front switchback bulbs and the red rear bulbs.
