Solvang Camping / Lodging

Post by bikermike »

At Alvin's suggestion I made a reservation at the Flying Flags Campground for Fri-Sun.

http://flyingflags.com/

I booked a spot in the trees by the river bed. ( Tent / Basic+)

Is anyone else intending to camp?

Some pics of Alvin's of the campground:

Usually the announcement link will have links for accomodations. Otherwise Lake Cachuma park is a county park with camping. Fewer amenities, better scenery IMO, but it can get breezy and it is outside of town a few miles.

Looking forward to seeing you all there. Phil, I did Jalama beach that you suggested one year and it is really nice albeit the wind. It can get very very gusty but all so nice. Flying Flags is so much more convenient though for the Solvang crowd. I usually camp a couple nights along the Ventura beaches like Thornhill Broome on the beach side of PCH and then to Solvang. For the people that don't want to rough it in tents there are also a couple of bungalows for rent at the park. Alvin, you just amaze me with your trove of pics! You are the western regional photographer for all things DATSUN!

I'll be at the Hadsten House. Looks like my wife is coming with me, it will be her first outing in the Roadster.

I have a lot of work to do. 8)

I stayed at Hadsten House a couple of years ago, before and after they refurbished. Years ago they hosted the Datsun crowd with reduced rates. Before the refurb. they had covered parking which was a big advantage. Really nice upscale hotel. Their main dining room and dinner menu was excellent and so was the food.

We're staying at Svendgaards, been there a few times before. Not fancy, but close, inexpensive and a nice hot tub. A bunch of showgoers will be there. Those who are in town on Thursday night, we need to find a place to meet up.

FYI If anyone is going to Hadsten House on Thursday, mention Tripadvisor.com discount, room drops to $109.00 for Thursday night only.

Pancake balls and sausage. Those who have ordered them before are now laughing.

We, as in Bill Neal, Dave Neal, with wives, and I have 3 rooms at the Svendsgaard too, nice and close to the show, we plan to arrive late Thursday afternoon. During the day on Friday we plan to go on a drive over San Marcos Pass to the Santa Barbara area then back on 101, more roadsters the better :D .
On the trip to Solvang we'll be staying in Williams Ca, Wednesday night, then down I-5 to hwy 152 that heads West to hwy 101 in the Hollister/Gilroy area. We plan to be in the Gilroy area around lunch time and hopefully we may meet up with a Roseburg,Or group of roadsters heading south on 101. We'll see ya there.... Bill
