High Volt/Low Volt Part 3 (and hopefully last)

All,

OK. I took my alternator down and had it tested. It's fine. So I bought a replacement plug and spliced it in. Car is now running, but the amp gauge is still high.

Symptoms now are no turn signals, windshield wiper motor, and no back up lights. Headlamps work great on both high and low beams, horn works.

Obviously I need to look for a common thread for those parts that are not working. I checked the fuses and they are all good to go. I am going to look at a wiring diagram to see if I can find the commonality, but any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Andrew,
That points to a bad fuse. I briefly had an issue similar, your high voltage is possibly due to your battery being drained, (unless you charged it)

What is a bad fuse? As far as I know they are nothing more than wires that will burn out if there is too much cuurent? Either it is good or it is open?

I took a voltage reading at each lead heading into the fuse panel. One showed a low volt. I am thinking that if I remove the fuse, I can then retake the reading at the terminal and if the voltage is still low, then I have eleminated all of the wiring on the other side of the terminal.

We called that "half splitting" back in the day.

Am I on the right track here?

Andy,

My quick two cents,

The Back up ( red/ black wire) and wipers (blue/red) are together on one fuse and turn signal / heater are together on the fuse next to it. Does your heater blower work?
