Buddy talked to the owner. Nice guy like all roadster owners He has over $100k invested. Body and paint done by a Ferrari restorer and is perfect. I have Photos but not great quality. Has a wood steering wheel

I don't think I have 100K in every roadster I ever owned, even including the garage and all the parts!!!
Must be a gorgeous car, hope it gets to Solvang so I can get a look at it.

Ironic, we drive antique cars with carburetors that look like fire hydrants, but we want live streaming video from Buddy to our cell phones. :D :D :D

Is that wrong? Technology definitely spoils us... Would love to see it in person. I am sure someone is going to steal it.

I must be to spend $100k on a roadster and leave the emblems off, install a Grant wheel, use a 1600 grille, and "custom" carpets???
Barret Jackson needs to contact Les Cannaday or Mike Young and put up some stunning restored examples

On any car, what it costs to have it built for you and what it's worth to sell later are very different. There was an awesome 60's Dodge Crew cab on Chasing classic cars, owner had $150.000.00 into it, was selling at $40K reserve. I would have been all over it. He accepted the fact he wasn't getting his investment back.

As far as de-valuing, I'm selling one this week, so I think it's a bad idea. Now a few months from now, if I'm looking for one again, De-valuing is a good thing.
The price is what got me and many others into Roadsters in the first place, I think it's as much Datsuns being under valued as other makes being over valued. If it were totally equal among the different makes, I might have gotten a TR250, an XK140 or an MGA, 6 years ago but there's alot of bang for the buck in a Datsun.

Best advice I ever got was from an old restorer. He told me to NEVER keep track of what a car is costing you.
You just don't want to know.

On a similar vein - restore to YOUR hearts desire - just as long as you are not considering it a primary investment.
Restorations are done for two reasons - love of the model (Life experience, lust, desire, tribute, etc.,) or Investment.
As long as you didn't buy it for an investment - it doesn't matter what it cost.

I am amazed at how short the collective memory of this group.

IIRC, the 67.5 Jon bought for 20K from Murphy cost him $80K to restore, not including the car.

The shame is with a little research, What the car could have been!!!!

I knew it would be a great start for a SR SWAP!
