I was browsing their web site and saw a roadster going over the block on Sunday. It is a 68 2000 but is listed as a 66. Anybody know of this car? Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Its a clean car, but I don't think it will do all that well. Barrett Jackson is more American muscle cars and hot rods, not early Japanese sports cars. I think its the wrong crowd. Perhaps I'm wrong, who knows. I'd love to see the car bring big $$$$$. I think this might be the wrong venue however. I'd guess it would do better at RM or Goodings or one of those since those auctions tend to be less muscle cars and more sports car oriented. That said, I think a '65 Alfa 1600 Spider went for $72K or so last year at a Barrett Jackson auction. It wasn't even a Veloce model either.

It will be interesting either way.

Maybe the snobs at BJ decided our little Roadsters are not wothy? Which would be fine with me. I'd rather keep them to ourselves!

So Gentlemen - Let's do a quick survey...

Post what you think this bad boy will go for and why... Using whatever logic you can come up with!

I'm stepping in at $11 500.00. It looks like a nice car, similar to my 69. I have used a weber set up previously and it worked well. Top is nice, interior looks good, body looks pretty straight - can only speculate on what is under the hood. Typical of BJ, they don't have much detail on the imports. A couple years ago a cherry Toyota Land Cruiser went for about $18k - and it had belonged to some famous Country star or something who had dropped $50k on it or something...(exact recollection is a little foggy.) I often think it would be worth the trip to go and pick up whatever oddball import shows up for cheap!

I think it is on the block tomorrow...

Sorry - Sunday. There is a nice 240 on Tuesday though... and a totally cool Patrol on Wednesday.

i want to play!

is it frame-off'd?
it's got the wrong grille, missing emblems and some (imho) hokey interior choices

$10k

What should be going to an auction like this is something that represents our cars like:
-this same car but completely restored to OEM spec
-67.5 SRL, '64 1500
-an un-restored time capsule example from all years

why is this car BJ?

Knobs missing in the center console, mirrors, does the '68 have the rear plate light in the bumper? Black wiper arms, no antenna! Sure glad mine is stock s/off.

It's no reserve, but I 'm not sure it will be understood or valued appropriately. I'm guessing this will go out under $10K. I hope it goes much higher, but just a hunch.
