IT LIVES.... I HAVE CREATED A MONSTER!

Post by SLOroadster »

As the fog rolled in about 7 pm, a creature awoke from its 3 month heartless slumber... and it was beastly

The replacement harmonic balancer that failed did so in a most unspectacular way. It did however make it very easy to pull its remains off. The outer portion came off in my hands, and the inner portion was nothing to worry about. The old one came off, the new one went on, bolted everything up and hit the starter. It was grumpy and out of ajustment but it started.

It sounds increadable. 4000 rpm is instant, I almost can't shift it fast enough to keep it below that. 3rd ger is full of torque, nail the gas in 5th, and you accelerate like you are in 4th.

I have a few oil leaks to track down (one looks like the rear main might not have sealed  but it might just be the pan gasket) The non-issue big cam is now a bit of one, it tends to not idle, but that could just be from a lack of ajustment. It runs cool as a clam, just about where it did at .030 over. No pinging, it just feels good.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!
