xxr 513
I m looking for wheels for my 68-2000 found the xxr -513 - with a zero offset, but the zero offset only comes in 15x8 gunmetal will it fit. I perfer the sivlers but the offset on those are +15 offset but are 15x7. Am I better of getting the 15x7.

Re: xxr 513
I think the +15 offset in 15x7 should be just about perfect. The 0 offset in 15x8 will rub a LOT on the outside of your fenders - in fact I think it's totally unfeasible.

Re: xxr 513
15x7 +15 is great size with minimal/no mods needed, and it is offered in GM:
http://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-513-Wheel ... 357089.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
here is everything you need to do to run these wheels:
http://www.311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=11247" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
15x8 0offset will be near impossible without mods, like james said

Re: xxr 513
I have always really liked those wheels too. My issue is that the rear of the car is flared, and in order to get my 280zx 6 spoke wheels to look right with a 195/60/14 tire, I have to use different wheel studs and add about a 3/4 inch spacer to fill the flare. If I wanted to switch to these wheels, would a 195 or 205 50/15 on a 15x8 wheel be an option, with a 15x7 on the front? I love the look of a wide lip, especially in the back, and with the flare and the lower springs might be a real muscular look. I don't know what the offset is on the wheel I have now but can probably look it up unless someone knows off the top of their head...

Re: xxr 513
depends on your rear flare
i played with:
http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i'm guessing the ZX wheels are 14x6 and close to +12 offset
with a 3/4" spacer, you are effectively at -7mm offset
compare this to a 15x8 0offset wheel and it says :
35mm LESS inside clearance
15mm LESS outside clearance
how are current clearances?

Re: xxr 513
Thanks Alvin. Current clearances are just fine, I never rub on either end, especially now with the composit springs (my old comp springs were de-arched).
I've never paid much attention to offsets in these discussions, so I assume positive is inboard (toward springs) and negative is outboard (toward fender)?
I am not sure of the thickness of the spacer, so I will need to look at that more closely and maybe convert that to mm so we're talking the same measurements. So from your comparison, you are saying I would have 15mm less clearance than I currently have to the fender lip, and 35mm less toward the springs? That seem quite doable, but i have not looked at how close I am to the springs. I'd love a bigger tire in the back with a nice lip rim. I also had to space the front outward just a tad (1/4 inch spacer?) to clear the Toyota caliper I'm using, but that would probably not be required with the new wheels (I hope).

Re: xxr 513
correct on the offset
i think you'll be fine with the 15x8 in back, 205/50 or larger
check that inner spring clearance though

Re: xxr 513
I went to a tire shop yesterday to compare tire sizes, discovering that a 205/50/15 is shorter than my 195/60s by a long ways, wider and very doable. Unfortunately, a 15x8 rim would require a 225 size tire to fit the rim right per the tech... a 205 would fit on the rim but look funny. He suggested no more than a 15x7.5 if it exists. Gonna do some measurements today to see what I've got in there now for spacing.
Thanks for all your help and info!

Well, just got on line, noting that they no longer make the gold colored XXR 513... poo. I'm almost sure I had seen one. Only gold wheel is in 15x8.

Thanks Alvin... I'm anxious to see the pics but for some reason they are not coming through completely on my work computer... could be the catholic nuns feel it is too "racey" for them (I work in a Catholic hospital). Will check when I get home... really appreciate the pics, they help out a lot!

Re: xxr 513
hey greg have you considered WORK style wheels?
they do have gold spokes available
here is what 15x7 0 offset looks like, and what was done to fit

Re: xxr 513
Alvin: It looks like the guy with the White car and the Work 03's rolled his rear fenders up at the top but didn't have to roll the rest. Not a bad solution.
