Hi All, I found a Datsun Fairlady shell in a farms shed about 2 months ago,it was covered in dirt and rust missing most parts like the engine, gearbox lights. So after a long look i purchased the shell and now the restoration has started.

I have loved these cars ever since I was a little boy, for one reason or another I have been at the wrong place or wrong time when these cars go up for sale so I'm very happy to have the old girl in the shed now.

I purchase some gear from ebay and the guy let me know about this site, but mostly the forum I haven't stopped reading for about 2 days now and don't think I will any time soon.

I'll try and post some pics of the old girl tonight.
Kind regards Marek

Some recent pics, as you can see its really only a shell with surface rust.

Hi Marek, I'm at Morphett Vale and have a 1965 SP310.
Let me know if you need any help :)
Looks like a reasonable car, what are you planning to do engine wise?

Thanks guys. I will keep the photos coming, I'm just starting and from what I can see I have a lot to learn.
My first project is to take the car apart one panel at a time...have it either sand blasted, dipped in acid or something like that because really all the info I find online differs greatly.
As for an engine, I don’t have one at all, just a U20 head. So need to track something down.

I've PM that guy about the engine. That would solve a few problems.

windy311, our cars would have been made on the same day and shared the same boat over :P

Selling a good U20 head will put you most of the way toward buying a 1600 engine and trans.

Could i put the u20 head on a h20 motor? I've also found a gearbox in the boot. I've i take some pictures of the head and gearbox would someone be able to let me know what they actually are.

U20 is OHC, H20 is push rod.

Post the pictures, I'm sure someone here can identify them!

As stated above, the U20 head will not work on an h20 motor.

Ill get a better picture of both in a day or so, but in my second photo the head is sitting by my sons feet .
I'll take pictures of gearbox and head an any numbers and or marking I can find.
If its a U20 head will it bolt on anything else? L20b? How hard are U20 bottoms end to come by?

Sorry very new to the Datsun world.
