I did the same basic thing as Keith, explained in this post.

It does involve wiring, but it's simple wiring. Just a cigarette lighter. It ends up looking pretty cool.

Here's what mine looks like:
I had to use the lighted cigarette lighter base because the regular one was just a hair small for the maplight hole. I will probably replace it at some point, but it works for now. The little flashlight thing is pretty cool - it lights up blue with an LED when not in use, and is a pretty bright light when you turn it on.

Looks good. I went to home depot and gotmsome plastic epoxy. I super glued all the little peices together (atleast the ones left) and yhen put thin layers of epoxy on it. It is now rock solid. now i have to figure out how the light componets actually go in there and if i have all the peices. I really want something that will keep the push button on and off function an would like to stick to the stock housing whatever light is in there.

You got me thinking there. I could probably use another "power outlet" more than a map light so I might try to modify the exterior part of the maplight to cover a cigarette lighter socket. That way I would have the power and keep the stock appearance.
