Dear Datsun Owners,
The 4th Annual SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive is coming up on November 6th at the Riverside Interntional Automotive Museum. We have a great time planed for all. Bring a Toy and help make the holidays bright for the children at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital.

As you know our main goal with this event has always been first to gather toys for the children at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, and second to show off our Datsuns and get together with some of the best people around - Datsun Owners. That has not changed!

However, we did have to make a few changes to the SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive this year. With the economy being what it is and so many people having a difficult time our registration is way down to the point that if we wait it out to see how many register we will not have time to get awards and T-Shirts made. So we made the following changes to this years event and so far they have been well received.

The 4th Annual SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive goes on as planed, there is no registration fee this year, but we will be accepting donations. The Awards this year will be for 1st through 3rd for Over All Show, Diamond in the Rough (given to the roughest Datsun with the most potential), Museum's Choice Award, and Best of Show Trophy. Register on location after being parked T-shirts will be for sale and raffel tickets the day of the event.

Everything else is pretty much the same, open to all Classic Datsuns and ALL Z Cars, everyone entering the gate must bring a toy, there will be food, vendors, raffles, music, and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital will be joining us this year as will Mr & Mrs Santa Claus so spread the word to bring the children out to meet Santa and Mrs Claus between 12:00 and 3:00pm, and a group of legendary race car drivers for you to meet, talk to and get autographs and pictures.

FREE Dash Plaques to the first 50 Datsuns that show up with a Toy.

Okay! We just decided to lift the “Must be driven to event” clause for the Diamond in the Rough category.

So, if you have a Rough Datsun that you want to show off, if you can drive it, push it, tow it or drag it then it need to be at the 4th Annual SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive!

Here is an Important REMINDER:This coming Sunday November 6, 2011 at 2:00am marks the end of Day Light Savings Time, we set our clocks back and hour- if you don't set your clocks back an hour then you will find yourself an hour early for the 4th Annual SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive at the Riverside International Automotive Museum. Although, if you are early we won't mind, more time to hang out and enjoy the cars. Oh, don't forget to pick up a toy to bring with you. ALL Toys need to be unwrapped.

We are looking forward to seeing a lot of Datsuns - early or not - just bring your Datsun and a toy and be sure to tell your family and friends.

We have Raffles, Food, Music, Vendors, Santa Claus, and lots of Fun!

Just saw the weather report...... IF it should happen to rain on Sunday when the 4th Annual SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive is to take place we will not be postponing it or canceling it this year, this event goes on Rain or Shine! We ask that you still come on out and bring a toy for the Children. We will hold as much activities indoors as we can. Goodies bags, T-Shirts, Food, Pictures for the children with Santa, Music, Raffles, and if we are indoors there will be a silent auction and Dash Plaques if you still bring your Datsun. We will make it a fun time regardless. So please come on out to the 4th Annual SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive and support a great cause.

Well we had Rain! With about an hour and a half of rain and cold the weather settled into overcast skies allowing a pleasant time for everyone. This was the 4th year for the SoCalROC Show-&-Shine Toy Drive, 2 years with warm weather and 2 with questionable weather. Regardless of the weather we had some die-hard Datsun lovers show up for a great time. With a little less than a third of the cards as usual we ended up with over half of the toys as last year for the Children's Hospital. This made it all worth the rain and cold. Our DJ "AJ" was great; our raffles went well as did the judging of the cars. The Datsun owners picked their favorites for 1st - 3rd and our guest racecar drivers picked the Best of Show and the museum staff picked the Museum's Choice Award. The racecar drivers that showed were Scooter Patrick, Davey Jordan and our long time friend John Morton. Rain or Shine these die-hard people come out to support a great cause and to have a great time. Thank you to everyone for your continual support. What until you see what we are doing next year!

The importance of pre-registration for these shows
SoCalROC does not have membership dues and each event is created with a zero budget. Pre-registration for car shows does a couple of things. First, it allows us to get a general idea of the number of cars to expect. Second, it helps to create a budget to prepare the best show we can for our attendees. Next, it allows us to purchase the awards and dash plaques. Finally, it helps to cover additional expenses incurred when putting on a nice car show. We understand that sometimes people just have to wait to see if they can make the event date and time, and will register at the gate. This is expected and encouraged when one has no other choice. However without a certain number pre-registered by a specific date, it is impossible to prepare properly; we won't know the number of participants to expect and we won't have the funds to prepare. This year with pre-registration so low, we lifted the registration fee and are asking for a donation instead. As always, we ask everyone entering the show to bring a toy for Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. This year we ended up falling short of meeting out budget due to lack of pre-registration and lack of donations, but we all did a great job bringing in the toys for the kids! Great job you all! Thanks for coming out in the cold and wet weather and supporting this cause.

You know, if you posted a place/way to donate even now, some of us that have no hope of ever attending (East Coast ya know!) might be willing to donate to a good cause!
